To get this somewhat back on track....I've been thinking (probably not good for everyone concerned) about jeans and how awful they are once they get sweat soaked after a long ride.  They become very painful to ride in.

Does anyone have any suggestions on something else to wear that don't get as painful?

I wear riding pants whenever I'll be on the road for at least a tankful and whenever it's warm enough tp make me sweat I wear mesh riding pants.

I use those as well but it's the jeans I'm concerned about.  Is there a different pants material that does better in moisture control than blue cotton?

Same answer... Cycling compression shorts. Or you can check out cycling base layer stuff... In both cases they are designed too wick moisture...

I'd think that another option is a seatcover that allows for ventilation for our twig n two berries. A beaded seat, Airhawk R or even a sheepskin purportedly allows for some air movement that could help with extra humidity.

Here's what's eating at me... I've never had a comfort issue riding distance in jeans (500+ mile days (yes, I know jeans aren't the best protection)). I'm prepping for a 2000 mile trip in August (roughly 300 mile days so I can stop at whatever seems interesting), so I bought an Airhawk, after multiple endorsements on this site and others. In the 60 miles or so I've been riding with it and figuring out the best air pressure, my jeans now bind like nobody's business. I also have a sheepskin which was no problem last year, and I'm gonna try riding shorts and/or good textile pants... but the (apparent) backwards progress with the Airhawk is unexpected. I'm gonna deflate the Airhawk more, and add the sheepskin, and eventually better clothing options... and hope some combination is the magic bullet for me.

Will they stop the jeans from binding up?

It reduces it for me... The material is slick enough keep it from happening.

Maybe here? http://www.duluthtrading.com/store/mens/mens-pants/mens-denim-jeans/mens-denim-ballroom-jeans.aspx
I actually found the Duluth Trading Firehose work pants to be a bit more comfortable for riding. They have many different styles including the same style as the jeans in the link above.

I wonder why no one has ever come up with a ventilated MC seat like you see in some cars? It could be a powered vent or maybe some sort of ram air system that can be turned on and off.

Here's an add on seat cover for a car to illustrate what I'm talking about.
