I was planning on telling the painter to use Dupont Imron 6000. It is the most durable paint I know of. Is there soemthing better?

To be honest it's overkill.  It's mainly designed for the heavy truck and manufacturing markets and is pretty nasty to spray.  As would be associated with that the color choices are more limited generally and you won't be able to do some of the nicer special effects available today.  A normal automotive finish is plenty durable enough to survive more things than a lot of people will throw at it, not to mention often times less expensive.

yeap, I agree.  i have sprayed some imron on industrial equipment.  It's an extremely durable enamel but that's about all it has going for it.  Not nearly as high gloss as a good urethane clear coat and the colors leave a lot to be desired.

I had a "hawain orchid metallic" Peterbilt that was a gorgeous color. I just assumed I could get a nice color and an extremely durable finish too. I guess I will have to do some research. I want the bike to be Mango Tango orange though so if I have to go automotive paint I guess I will. Thanks for the input guys.
No, really, she is the best and I can prove it...

Connie has been sold. Replaced with 2013 Aprilia Tuono V4 APRC

I can't wait to see this on the bike! Man, I think that's going to look SO good! For some reason, this thread really makes me want to get a Connie. I've been trying to talk the boss man into pulling the trigger on a "Company Connie". Not only would it give me an awesome bike to cruise around as well as a moving billboard for our new Canyon Cage and Saddle Bag Guards but it'd also be a bike we could do more extensive testing of our bars on! I apologize if I temporarily derailed the thread.  :-\ Awesome looking bike, though!

I totally agree with the above comments, easier off than on, costs a bundle, and how boring can you get with the colors provided. If you do it, take photos as you go and notes as to what fasteners go where. Then at re-assembly you'll have notes to add to the confusion!

I have to tell you, with that red color, I'd be sorely tempted to put Ducati emblems on it!

Seriously though, nice job.
