Risers - why do so many different heights fit?
« on: May 21, 2012, 08:54:23 PM »
I have added handlebar risers to maybe a half dozen bikes in my life. Some were easy, some were a nightmare. Seems that once you approach 2 inches you entered a new world with longer cables, brake lines, etc.

Why is it relatively easy to add 4 inch risers or less on the newer 2011/2012 ABS models? Did Kasasaki design these bikes with longer cables and lines knowing risers would be installed?

I think it's more of that fact that you can reroute the lines. You have to undo the small block the holds the lines to the bars and let it flop as well as take them out of their hold downs. It's not quite a snap.

TJ- it is not necessary to keep creating new threads.  Post on an existing thread.... you already made one on risers (even though there are lot of those too)  here:  http://www.zggtr.org/index.php?topic=8851

Those are interesting.  I want the bars back, but don't want them higher.  I guess that is impossible and this is the next best solution.  Are those the sport risers or something like that?

Twowheeladdict, the setbacks are homemade from 1/2 in 6061 . Bought from Graingers and cut with hacksaw...

Trying to figure out the first photo showing one setback.  Are you using them with risers?  Do you think they could be used without risers?  If they can be used without risers then that is what I need to do.

Can you provide details?  I would love to attempt this mod.  You do have some skills.  I saw a thread on your unique tail bag.

No skills here...just wanted the bars back more...had saw a simular piece mounted on top of risers and thought about it on the bottom....cut a paper pattern using the up-right as a guide.. the drill bit and tap costs more than the material..I would suggest buying the 1/2 x 4 x 12in piece. In that order I also got material for these (pic)
