Goldwing Windshield Vent

Anyone attempt to, or successfully mount the vent for a Goldwing Windshield on a stock 10-12 windshield?

I put one in my cruiser, and also for others successfully.  I would not recommend it for our bikes...not necessary.  Our windshields let a lot of air in through the bottom. If you want more air, lower the windshield.

If you really want to do it, there's a tool you can get at Harbor Frieght that makes it a very easy job (cutting the windshield).  It looks like a little router, and uses a cutting drill bit...about $20.

Mask the window in the area you'll be cutting so you don't scratch the windshield.  You can do it while mounted...but cover up your bike with a sheet so you can easily get rid of the plastic shards.  I used blue masking tape...then I used a sharpie to draw the template for it.  When you cut the window, DON'T FORCE IT.  Let the tool do the work cutting.

After you cut out the hole, use a file to smooth everything down.

Based on the amount of curve in the windshield, you may or may not be able to use the clip-latch to make a tight connection to the windshield.  I used some clear tape to seal the top to the windshield and you can't see it.

Thanks. Excellent information. I was just wondering about the curvature of the windshield and what would be used to close the gap between the windshield and the base of the vent. I do get plenty of air now for the weather. I am in Gainesville, Fl., and the weather during the summer combined with low speed city driving and riding gear equals hot. I played with the vent with the 08 I had. Then I had the Cee Bailey Ultra Tour and it really blocked the air.

Trust me - I know the heat.  I'm down in Palm Beach...the heat and humidity in the summer sucks sometimes...but I can't see the vent helping here, unless you're riding around with an extra-tall shield to begin with, in which case I'd say go back to stock for the summer.  Since it rains every day (down here - you can set the clock with the 4pm thunderstorm starting in about a month or sooner), I don't want to look through the windshield anyway.
