Ok .  i have been reading on here many times how the stock tires are horrible and destroy the bikes handling capabilities.  Well let me say its all TRUE!  The bike is transformed!  The PR3's plus the 55 inch rear make all the difference.  this is how the bike should have been sold.  Amazing.  the 55 inch rear handles noticeably better and inspires confidence . i say dont hesitate ,go for it.  my only regret is i didnt rip those **** tires off at the get go .

It feels good to say "I told you so."  Glad you like how it performs.

I know I will never buy another 190/50 for my C14.

Tel me more about the benefits of the 55?
I am just about to replace my rear (PR3) and I thought it was only available as a 50

So want should I expect if I move to the 55?

Cheers

good that you like it.
BTW, it's not 55 inch, it's 55%. 190 is the tire width in mm, and 55 is the aspect ratio (cross-section height is 55% of the width), while 17 is the wheel diameter in those pesky inches  8)

If you do a search you will find several threads that discuss the great benefits of the 190/55.
But it basically quickens the turn in due to the steeper profile and increased height. To me, it also feels more stable while leaned over in a curve.

my passenger also loves the rear tire, its softer for her back there now due to the increase in tire size.  She says she isnt getting bounced  around anymore.

More reasons to love a 190/55 rear?  The bike goes up on the center stand easier.. And the speedo error is all but corrected... If I have a choice when I need a rear tire, ill stick with the 55.  In a pinch, I would use a 50, if i run into a back order problem with the 55's

I switched recently to the PR3, but I stuck with the 50 ratio tire. It feels so much better than my 7,400 mile Brickstones. But, I do have a sneaking suspicion that a fair portion of the handling improvement is just from changing from a worn out tire to a brand new one. New tires always feel so much better than what you have just taken off.

Having said that, I'll probably try to 55's next time.

And a higher tire = higher seat... which is a *HUGE* negative for those of us trying to get the bike as low as possible.  Just saying...

Im sorry to hear that extra 1/2" to 3/4" of an inch would make that much of a difference in your ability to handle the bike..   Maybe we could get Michelin to make a 190/45 rear?

I worked very hard to get every mm I could.  Throwing away 1/2 to 3/4" would be very significant.

Well, I might not be a "looker", but I really do not have orange skin, green hair, and tiny arms....
