C14 air cleaner

Saw a post sometime back about changing the air cleaner without removing fairing.
Any body know where I can find the article?

It's not possible without removing the left side upper fairing.  Either that or you are a magician.

Got the air cleaner changed. Only had 18000 miles on it. Amazing the difference a clean filter makes.
You can changa the filter by removing the top cover or glove box and the piece that has the glove box on the 2010. Not easy but can be done.  I did take out the top screws on the left fairing.

There should be an access panel to get to the air cleaner. Should not be this difficult.

 An access panel would be great.  It looks worse than it  is.  After you've done it once , it only takes 10 to 15 minutes to change.

If you're going to remove the plastic, it's good to have more than one thing to do to the bike while you're at it. Last fall when I replaced my air cleaner, I also did a coolant flush & fill and then checked the exhaust header nuts. I changed the oils too but you don't need the plastic off for that.  When you've had the plastic off once, it's a piece of cake the next time around.

Just remember where all the fasteners go.    :o

You want stupid air cleaner changes try the gl1800 goldwing, total biotch to change, dismantle half the bike to get at it.  First time changing it was a weekend job. You remove the dash, Tupperware, then dig it out from under two huge wiring harnesses.  I'm sure the c14 is gonna be easier.

 :offtopic: Well, I did 300 miles today in 150 mile stints, then pulled weeds with my right arm and so far no issues.  I could feel some tenderness in my neck but no problems with the shoulder or the arm.  My next feat tonight will be two martinis.  I will use my right arm and see what happens....

With that being said it will be this summer, don't know yet.  I'll head out your way and stay near you and then on to Illinois to bother Conrad and anyone else that gets in the way.

The Area P is sounding very nice.  I'm getting used to the sound and I must say I like it.  No decel pop at all.  Disappointed over that.

I had to listen to all of that....I like disco.  Course it's hard to dance like that in armour....not that I can dance, I can't.  Well, I could if someone was shooting at my feet. Wouldn't be as good as them, though.
