Here are a couple of pictures of the hole that was drilled in the rack, and the connector placed in the hole. What isn't shown is I found it was necessary to put a 'spacer' under the connector to raise it up enough to make reliable contact with the mating connector that is in the bottom of the Givi. I used an o-ring that I had on-hand. Once it was all done and I verified everything worked, I used a little clear silicone caulking on the underside of the rack to hold the connector in place. More than 10,000 miles later and it is still in place and functional. I figured that Givi put that connector in the bottom of the case, and provides the mating connector, so I might as well use them!

I would not wash the plate for obvious logical reasons, your plate can now break.
