Unfortunately it wasn't a scam. I was the next one in line to buy that bike, I missed out.

TWO thumbs up for Cycle World of Cherry Hill. When I was shopping for my 2010 they beat everyone by almost 1,500. I did all the arrangements over the phone. No problems with any aspect. They are 100 miles from my home and the first time I stepped in the showroom was when I picked up the bike. Less than an hour later I was riding it home. I know one guy who flew up from Flordia to pick his up. When I took it back for the break-in service there was a guy from western Maryland picking up his bike. I tried going through a local dealer. They were not willing to deal.
A friend of mine bought a new '11 in they bay area by going through Costco and paid just over $15M. I believe he said the dealer was in Pleasanton.

I bought from Cycle Gear in SF as well, my 2009 which I paid about 15.5 for which I was told was also too high back then. They have a large overhead and very high rent so they need to make as much money as they can. I doubt they will go down much below the $18,300, but maybe $17,500 out the door if you're lucky. I would suggest driving to Redwood City and San Jose to see if you can get a better deal. Or Tracy is always willing to wheel and deal to get your business, I highly recommend giving them a call and tell them your top dollar.
This is an out of state (CA vs TX) example of pricing.
California, for better or worse, has strict emissions standards as a result of a very polluted past.
It is also an expensive state to live in. However, year-round riding is one of the perks of living here.
Texas doesn't give a sh^t about its air, water, or land. And prices reflect the absence of taxes to pay for regulation.
However, carrying a pistol and shooting criminals is one of the perks. "Price" is all relative in the big picture.

15,400 OTD, taxed and tagged is about the best 2012 Connie deal here in "dirty 'ol Texas"....
Can't imagine why you'd ever wanna leave such a wonderful place as Kalifornia. Please stay.
Gladly, if you'll do the same in Texass.
...you wouldn't want our pistol-packing, criminal shooting, non-eco-friendly a$$e$ out there among you in the land of fruits and nuts.
You got that right! -LYNYRD SKYNYRD
I prefer "Nuts and Fruits" not "fruits and nuts." We take pride in our nuts here in the Golden State. The fruits are a byproduct that drive up prices.
