There are two different key codes, an "A" and a "B".
Make certain you know which one to order when you have the dealer get one. The letter is on the side of the stove knob key. The attached image shows the difference.
Doubles the chances of you getting a unique key (or at least one that nobody else local has..In High school, my KH400 key would start 3 of the 8 Kawasakis at school.)
I'm near Indianapolis and have a KDS system. Will be glad to program a new FOB to your bike. PM me if interested.
I first went by the local Kawa dealer whose parts counter kid (he looked about 17) honestly said, ''What kind of bike is that?"
Then he said, "We don't have those, but we can order them. They're $22/ea and we have a HAND cutter <WTH?>"...
$44 vs $5? Really? It's a KEY blank... I was prepared to pay $10 just to be supportive, but not $44.
It is nice to have the one that fits in your fob, though.
It is nice to have the one that fits in your fob, though.I got a spare passive "small" fob with no key. Here is what I did. I got my locksmith to make me a key for $2.50 , I then took my key out of my Fob & put it on top of the new key. Traced the Fob key onto the new key with a marker then using my Dremel I cut the head of the new key to match, A little rounding of the corners on a grinder & I now have a key that fit's just as good as the factory one. I'm sure It can be done for the full sized Fob, It just will not have the plastic on the head of the key like the factory one

So I finally recovered from all that, it was very expensive.
$268 - Fob
$45 - Dealer programming
$33 - 2 new key blanks (I should have ordered these when I ordered the fob, would have saved on S&H)
$10 - get the 2 new blanks (active and passive) cut at a key store
==============================================
$356
I would say that overall it was worth it for the learning experience.
Who am I kidding, it sucked really bad. Might be my most expensive mistake ever?
