Highway pegs

Looking for advice before ordering pegs. Looking at Ronnies or ones from AST

I use Kuryakyn pegs attached to canyon cages. Love them.

I suppose I could, but he hasn't indicated any information about what model year bike he has, what bars he has (if any), what his objectives are, if he needs adjustability, what he wants to spend, how long his legs are, if he is willing to cut fairings... etc.  That stuff is already in lots of threads out there.  Just giving a "jump-start".

But yeah, I do use Ronnie's pegs and like them.

Have concours 14 and with 32 inseam need something to change up position on longer runs. Leaning toward Ronnies only because he seems to have product. The AST ones look to me as offering more leg room, but the guy never answers email or phone and only posts on order with no date to ship product.

I could be mistaken so do the research but I think I've read about some ground clearance with the AST pegs.

I've had the AST's for over a year now and love them.

I have about the same inseam as you, and they're a lifesaver on long trips.

They are multi-adjustable, and the best I've seen for a C14 so far.

Ronnie's are nice, but too close for me.

These have a strong, square tubing framework that interconnects both sides, but the cool part is how Ryan engineered them to install W/O removing any plastic.

The fold down pegs are long, and it is true that they will scrape in sharp turns.
But, you simply place your feet under the pegs and fold them up before the curve... no big deal.

They also have a spring loaded ball detent designed to hold the peg in the upright position, instead of compression washers and bolt tension designs like Kuryakyn's. No bolt to loosen up and let the peg fall off...

I hear Ryan's getting back on track, as of late.

His design work's the best of any out there I've seen, and are well worth the money.

Thanks Bob. Just wish could get some info from AST but unable to get any reply. Have 2" risers but need pegs. Ronnies look like just to short for this six footer.

Not exactly related, but
My wife is wanting rubberized pegs to replace the metal passenger pegs.
Will the stock rider pegs fit in the passenger position?
If so, does anyone have a stock set (of rider pegs) that they will sell me?

Ronnie's are nice, but too close for me.

They are pretty close.  Nice for a change of position, and also nice that the closeness allows them to be more hidden/stealthy.  But if you are looking to stretch more and/or have long legs, Ronnie's might not be best choice.

I love the AST pegs & they are by far the MOST comfortable but I have scraped many times with them in the folded up position. The bottom of the  frame that the pegs bolt too will scrape if you corner aggressively. I replaced mine with Rivco once I installed canyon cages.  I may put my AST pegs on ebay soon.

I'll admit that Ronnie's pegs may not be the best for a long legged rider. However if you ever want just a different place to rest your foot when you are on a long ride
in bad weather his pegs fill the need and keep your lower leg and foot protected and behind the fairing. Folded up they don't scrape and the build quality is top notch as well.

I'm very interested in some kind of highway pegs, but I really don't want to give up cornering ground clearance.  What highway pegs give up the least ground clearance?

Those look good!
I like that.
That works if you have Canyon Cages.
Clearance would be higher.

The only thing I see about AST's design that helps more is their adjustability.
There are numerous drilled/tapped holes along the bottom of the square tubing that allow the pegs to be adjusted forward/backward. Then, the pegs are long, which allow your legs space to comfortably clear the ridges on the fairing. Also, the pegs can swivel, which allow you to set them at just the right angle for your feet.

The only gripe I have about them is clearance in sharp / hard cornering.
I've just made it a habit to always fold them up and switch back to the stock pegs before a hard corner.

I also added MCL 2" dropped brackets for the stock pegs. Those helped a lot, and there's no clearance issues. To me, that's where Kawi should have placed them to start with.
But, I'm also 6' tall. Shorter-legged people may disagree...?

Probably no folded "highway" pegs will offer as much clearance as Ronnie's.  Ronnie's offers 100% clearance (doesn't reduce lean potential at all).

I'm obliged to share this: if you order from AST use PayPal or some service that will refund your money if/when you don't receive your items or correspondence.

I have KLR pegs mounted on Canyon Cages with the same brackets everyone uses on the Rivcos. The Rivcos are much better....but for me it's already done. If you are cheap and have some other pegs lying around you could do like I did.

Ted - I have FJR driver pegs mounted for my passenger. She loves them - much easier getting on and off with the cages too. Squishiest pegs I've ever seen are the C10 Connie ones. Soft.

So, if I were to do it again I'd have Rivco highway pegs and C10 passenger pegs. But I'm still one happy camper:-)
