Has anybody else put Ohlins forks on a Gen 2 Connie?

Excellent idea, I had not thought about that. That way if it does not read properly I can easily put the OEM forks back on AGAIN

You should rig something up real fast to see if the error goes away when connected to the 2009 sensor. Also, consider giving Ohlin a call. I bet they have a parts department.

I cannot tell what the wire colors are in one of the photos; do both sensors use black and white wires? If so, a cut, splice and shrink tubing cover will last two lifetimes.

The 2010 + plug is completely sealed. That is why I am going to have to agree with you and John, which I really hate to do  , the only option is to splice and solder. If it does not work I will have to buy a new stock ABS sensor cable or John should buy it for me because I seem to be doing some R & D for him as well.

With this being the case, I'd go with these prior suggestions:

Now back to the sensors..... can you give us a better shot of what the pins look like? If so, we may be able to tell you how to remove them or someone may be able to make or get you the parts to make a short adapter harness.

Spliced an 09 rear sensor to the new 11 plug and got everything installed, but I still have the Error message.   I can remove the error message by holding the top button and hitting the bottom one on the dash but then I get to stare at a bunch of lights and my ABS & traction control is no longer functional. HELP! I was going to try and disconnect the battery last night and see if it resets, but I forgot cause it was my birthday and I was drinkin beer.

I will try that tonight, but does anybody have any other suggestions or idea why the splice would not work?


I also had to put my ugly stock fender back on until I buy a new ZX14 fender. The ZX10 fender and brackets I had on it will not work with the Ohlins.

Any way to mechanically adapt a Gen 2 sensor to the 2 screw Gen 1 holes in the Ohlins? Like shave down the plastic on the sensor and mold it with liquid steel or fiberglass?

I am sure there is a way to fab something up some how, just not quite sure how yet. Start throwing out ideas. As you can see these sensors are completely different.

If you shaped the plastic bracket properly with a Dremel, it would slip into the hole and not move. Then, you could re purpose the metal bracket from the Gen 1 to hold it all in place...

An aluminum piece, drilled with center hole counter sunk and maybe slotted to allow it to fit over the sensor connection. Washers or spacer to set the proper depth on the sensor. Depends on how deep it has to go. You could cut the tab and shape it into a flange with a dremel.

Bill finally came out to the house to pick up his windscreen that he paid for back in May. He explained to me what he thought would work.

And here is what I did to get this to work:
     1. Cut off the Gen 1 sensor that I had soldered on and put the Gen 2 sensor back on. (If you ever do this SKIP THIS STEP)
     2. Pressed the Gen 1 sensor out of it's bracket.

     3. Drill it out with a 27/64" drill bit.
     4. Completely cut the three fins off of the Gen 2 sensor.

     5. Cut the original Gen 2 bolt holder off following the contour as best you can. (I used a Dremel)
     6. Press the Gen 2 sensor into the Gen 1 bracket.
     7. Put sensor back onto Ohlins fork, DONE  DEAL!

I am really surprised that either sensor would not work with the bike. I just thought of it but any change the sensor was not sticking through the fork mount far enough to sense the timing wheel?

Anyway, glad to hear you got it sorted out and everything works.
