Wig Wag Taillights
« on: July 14, 2014, 12:37:15 PM »
Anyone else put this Kriss Brake/Turn signal flasher on their Concours 14?
It can also Wig-Wag the lights so they say. I bit pricey but I'm going to try it out.

$250?

I got a police LED that I wired into the brake light in 2 minutes, flashes in 12 different patterns, and lights up the whole damn neighborhood when it's flashing for $50

That's nice. I don't want to add lights however. Just a wig wag type box to make what is there better. Nice link :) And it's $199.

I like the fact that it flashed the turn signals initially.  Interesting.

I put one of these on my wifes bike but instead used a LIN6
http://www.galls.com/whelen-linz6-super-led-lighthead?PMSRCE=92350001&SESSIONID=000000090236183#.U8RBTPldVXU

and one of these from Skene, it actually modulated the LINZ6 so it flashes all the time but so inconspicuously it is an attention getter but by no means obnoxious.  The Skene also allows it to act as a running light, that is what allows it to be seen at all times and to modulate just like a headlight modulates.

basically modulates and flashes like the brake light in this vid

I believe we discussed something like this a long time ago, but can't remember.
I imagine flashing the yellow turn signals  with the brake lights (or having them on solid) might be illegal (or it probably should be).  But there are plenty of brake flashers out there.  That Panther also seems a bit expensive for what it is.

I use an Admore lightbar addition which has the brake flash function built-in (of course, that was too expensive also).  Plus it is the nice kind that blinks only a few times (5?) and then goes solid, and will not blink again until X amount of time off the brake, so it is not annoying (and also has turn signals, but I don't think the Concours needs it).  On my previous bikes I had the same functionality but added it to the stock brake light and I think it was something like a $35 product.
Shoodaben (was Guhl) Mountain Runner ECU flash, Canyon Cages front/rear, Helibars risers, Phil's wedges, Grip Puppies, Sargent World seat-low & heated & pod, Muzzy lowering links, Soupy's stand, Nautilus air horn, Admore lightbar, Ronnie's highway pegs, front running lights, all LED, helmet locks, RAM Xgrip, Sena SMH10, Throttle Tamer, MRA X-Creen, BearingUp Shifter, PR4-GT, Scorpion EXO-T1200,etc

On my old RT I just added a 6volt flasher unit inline with the brake light wire before the brake light. Poor man's pulsating brake light . Call me cheap. It worked.

Actually I have police officers tell me it was a great idea on previous bikes.
They were more concerned with safety.

Doesn't mean it is legal.  Of course, neither is speeding or riding without an inspection sticker... and I do both.

Part of safety is consistency in light color, location, brightness, and function, though.    It ends up being confusing, misleading, or distracting.  Otherwise, people would add blue lights, green, purple, 600 lumens, chasing, whatever.

$19.95  www.xdponline.com

http://www.xdponline.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=65&products_id=180

Wow- that is cheap and yet still a reasonable price for even the seller to still make decent money on it.  Also has the important reactivation delay feature plus selectable delay and pattern.   I would replace the included Scotchlock with something else.

Looks like this is the company that makes it:  http://www.3rdbrakeflasher.com/  much better photos, super tiny and encased in clear epoxy so it really is waterproof and protected.  Downloadable manual too.

also has an option for a additional output connector.

there could be a newer version in the works, next few weeks/months.

I had the Kriss rear light modulator with the wig wag on my old Triumph 1050 Tiger.  They worked well but were a bit of work to put in.  I stripped them off the Tiger when I traded it in on the C14 but have not got around to doing it.  it would make a good winter project.  It does require you to cut into some wiring for the installation.  It was reliable and always worked

That's what I thought and will be doing this also.
I'm in Nevada right now working and have a NHP office in the same building. The officer there also agreed it was a great idea (saves lives etc) and he's seen them before.
So that makes three different states officers (who I have spoken to) who say they save lives.

Max, could you provide a link? I can't find it, and I'm interested  :-\

EDIT: found it!

Anyways, I was thinking if it wouldn't be neat to have one of those that make the brake lights flash when the deceleration is higher than, say, 0.5 g, just like in high end cars, which even turn the hazard lights if coming to a full stop. That I would jump on.

Yes, I very much like that concept.  So far I have only seen that kickstarter license plate thing that does it....
