I believe that the consensus was that it made little to no difference, removed or not.

Thanks guys, I did do a search but it was tough to find any serious answers on here, there seem to be several who are only here to showcase their superior intellect and end up clouding the threads with BS.

Like this attempt at humor from another thread, Harry?

The difference is that was a comedic thread Mr Pink, it was never meant to be a serious question.

Go to a ZX14 forum you can buy used ZX headers for less than $100. 06,07 don't have cats, I used a 08 paid a welder $50.00 to cut open , remove and weld.

I believe Conrad answered your question. I also see that JerBear suggested a thread that might help. Did you read that thread? If you had you would have seen reference to additional threads such as this one... http://www.zggtr.org/index.php?topic=1001.0  It has pictures.

The C14 boards are rife with 12 year old humor, innuendo, bad taste, BS, and off topic replies.  It's the OP's job to wade through the morass to find the gems, of which there are plenty.  It's all part of the adventure here.  In all seriousness, serious answers are few and far between, but the truth is out there.....somewhere.

As far as the subject on removing the cats, it's really not something done with these bikes on a wide spread basis, so there may not be much out there to find.  I did a search on 'cats' on both C14 boards and quite a few posts came up.  Whether or not they are relevant to what you want to know or not is up to you to decide.   Typically I like to pull the oldest posts first, but that's me.

Removed the cats before I installed a full aftermarket system...no gains except quite a bit less heat felt. Full system with PCv/Auto-tune or reflash is the way to go!!  ;) ;)

Thanks Gentlemen, I have decided to purchase a header and change it out.

So what is the best tuner to buy or should I get it reflashed?

If you plan to do any other mods, getting a PC is the best route, based on everything posted I have seen.  And unless you want an autotune model (O2 sensor/etc) expect to need Dyno time and such.  I don't have any interest in performance mods (other than flashing for the flies, which I already did), but if I did, I would go the autotune route.... just seems like it would be well worth the extra dollars (especially compared to how much some other stuff can cost).
