Adding a glove box?
« on: May 17, 2014, 09:01:55 AM »
Can a glove box from a 08 or 09 be added to a 10 or newer? I'm getting ready to buy a newer concours and would like to add the extra glove box if it's possible. Any ideas on this?
Thanks

Did this as soon as purchasing a 2012, had an 08 before and missed it. Went online to a discount Kawaski parts house (usually about 40% off list) and went through their diagrams and ordered all the parts, was less than $200. Had to dremel the pan to fit over the ABS lines, and hammer them down a "little flatter" but works great! Also some little tabs on the sides that had to be dremeled back and new holes drilled. In the end, it looks factory, very pleased.

Oh, forgot, took all the relays that were there and stuffed them behind the other glovebox on the left side.

I have an '09 and want to remove tbe glove box and replace with the plain cover, in order to add AST pullback risers. I just havent gotten around to ordering the parts. That site with the 40% discount on parts would help if you could post a link.
Its my understanding that you need the cover, as well as the bracket under the cover and/or glove box. The brackets differ between the 08/09 models and 10+.

Sorry for "stealing" the topic but I could not find answer on couple of questions:

1. Can left side top fairing with glove box of model '10 onwards be fitted on the '08 model without mayor modifications ?
2. Did anybody did it ?
3. Is there topic on that subject that I missed ?

Thanks in advance

Gordan

Except most of the image links are dead so the threads that almost everything links to isn't of much use.

Yes, it's doable. You'll have to relocate the relays under your cover and replace that bracket with the first gen piece. I went the other way because I found that little toaster oven useless for all practical purposes.

I've never used the glove box for more than a sunglass case. Much rather have more comfort. I can always add a tank bag, it'll be soft and sit back enough for the risers to clear.

Do they interfere?  Don't get it.  Sorry  must be slow here.
Thanks

Yeah, the tank top box on the '08-'09 prevents the pullback risers from being used. They work with the 10+ models without the tank top storage box. If I remove the box I can use the risers on my '09.
