Introduction and Question
« on: October 08, 2013, 02:39:11 PM »
Hi,

I've got a deposit on a Concours 14 about 500 miles away that I'm going to pickup Thursday.  It's a black '12.  I'm pretty stoked.

I've had plenty of Kawi's: KZ400, EN454, ZX-11, and ZX-9R.  I've been on Buells for over a decade, and enjoyed them a lot, but need a more touring oriented ride now.  I also have a 1998 roached GSXR that I built into a streetfighter with a '10 ZX-6R tail section, and that gets my sportbike fix taken care of.

I'm pretty damn excited to get this Connie.  I think it will be the freedom I'm looking for with the legroom, storage, and weather protection.

I have a question I'm hoping someone can help me with.  It has a Two-Brothers slip-on, but no Power Commander or other box.  Is it necessary to re-flash or override the ECU on these bikes with a slip-on muffler, or will they run fine with stock mapping?  I'm concerned about engine damage and/or power loss due to lean running.  I don't need more power than stock, I just want to make sure I'm not hurting anything.

Thanks!

Scott

No PC required, bike runs rich as it is.  If you get a full/catless system than yes, a PC is required, or a reflash.

Woo hoo another black one.  ;D

Welcome to the forum Scott. I think you will be surprised how little you will ride your GSXR after you get this bike.

Mmmmmmm.....  Spaten....  AAAHHHGGGG....

Err, I mean welcome to the forum. As others have said, no need for PC or reflash with just a slipon. But you might want the Guhl reflash anyway. Mo betta torque at the low end.

You will probably end up with some devel popping that you may or may not like. But there is a fix for it. I have had a slip on with no PC map change for years now. Welcome to the mix.

Hi guys,

Thanks for all the replies and the warm welcome!

I actually am sick enough to like decal popping.  Reminds me of the racetrack.....on a 700 lb bike!

I hope there is nothing wrong with this bike when I go to complete the purchase.  I really want it.

BTW, should it come with two fobs or one?

Congrats!  You will love it

Swapping the muffler does almost nothing to performance and mapping does not need to be changed.  Although if you get popping, you might have to do the PCV thing I have read about.

Two.  One passive and one active.
