So, in fact the only colour that is legal [the in UK] is blue. You do see lots of trucks over here with blue lights around the cabs.

That is interesting.

Here (Virginia... and I assume most states) if you show blue, you will be pulled over and ticketed pretty quickly.  Interestingly, they can even ticket for "impersonating a police officer".  And yet they seem to allow people to go mostly unharassed with those ridiculous "bluish" headlights (because, you know, since proper/real/factory pure white HID lighting looks neat, making it 10 times bluer on fake/aftermarket/crappy "HID" lighting is much much more impressive- not that I have an opinion about it or anything.)

To my untrained eye, the patterns look pretty good, however I guess we don't know for sure that these light pattern
photos are not from some expensive European car.
I sure hope someone here gets them and reports back to us. The seller has lots for sale for other bikes, Ducs and Gold Wings
etc. anybody see info about these on other forums??

If I was selling these I would have found an empty car park with a blank wall to demonstrate the light pattern, not the back lane behind the shop.

Correct and incorrect.
In the UK you cannot show a red light from the front of the vehicle (not even emergency vehicles),...
but you can have a blue light so long as it does not flash and is not the main headlamp (most of the bluer HIDs are illegal!)
Green is verboten as they are afraid people will think it's a traffic light and drive at you. <LOL>
Yellow is also verboten as it is reserved for indicators (turn signals).
White is to indicate that the vehicle is moving towards you which is why car reversing lights are white (apart from improving visibility when reversing).
So, in fact the only colour that is legal is blue. You do see lots of trucks over here with blue lights around the cabs.

Interesting, so blue would be the one to go for

I think my Sick HIDs (www.sickhids.com) comment got lost in the shuffle. You should check them out if you haven't already, though. My buddy bought a set from them and they look pretty cool and he loves them. They make the lights to order and you can customize a bunch of different aspects of them which is pretty cool, I think. Not sure how much they are, though. Worth a look, at least.

That guy does some very cool work. Kaw parts fiche shows the housing for $400. If he could do his work for $250 or so a person could have a plug and play custom set made in this country and have their takeout for sale to recoup some of the cost. Or find a housing on ebay from a breaker.

Well I am just a bit north of you (yep, across that line) where it is still sodaland....

Still, I have never heard an American say (or write) anything like 'I was reversing the car'. Reverse is a noun here, not a state of driving. I betcha' you cannot find me one example of an American using reversing as a verb or adverb (reversing lights).

Of course the Internet is polluting both languages (English and English). It was not long ago that the word "whilst" was strictly a British (or at least non- American) word. It still is NOT a word in American English but it is now being used by enough Americans that I cannot always tell the nationality of the writer at a glance. No matter what though, I shant be reversing my auto anytime soon.

I tells' ya' Gov, things be a mite off kilter. Tea towel. Reversing. Spiket. Spit the dummy. Colour. Favourite. Prat. Pedantry. et. al.

Brian (Bryan, as in tyre)

Well, I don't remember exactly where you are, but here (VA) I have heard both reverse and back-up used interchangeably.  I call the "reverse lights" and always have (and it seems to be the preferred term).  So your "we" doesn't represent the USA...

And by the way- the carbonated beverages in cans, such as cola, are called "soda"....   :)

As a verb?  Probably not.  Noun- yes.  Adjective- yes.  They are reverse lights.  I put the car into reverse.  I reversed direction.  He was heading to me in reverse.  But I backed up the car.  "Reversing the car" is a bit ambiguous- that could mean one put the car into reverse or one was moving in reverse or perhaps picked up the car and turned it around or something... it is certainly an odd phrase that I would not expect to hear.

Spiket

Spigot?

Sorry, I had to ask. I have just never heard the word spiket and was wondering if maybe it was a British thing...

I took a look at the SICK HID site, but there wasn't a lot of information about what to order or how to order. The site looked slick tough, just not a lot of info; but thanks!

Yea, when I checked yesterday their website was under construction so the information was quite limited. I just checked again and it looks like their "Contact Us" section is working but the Gallery is still being worked on. Your best bet is to browse the gallery section (once it's back up) for a set-up similar to what you'd like, save or copy a photo of it, then use the Contact Us section to email the guy with the photo, your year, make, model of bike as well as a short description of what you're looking for.

Reversing, backing up, negative acceleration from a standstill,.....
I guess we call it reversing due to using reverse gear.

Ya could say, "I'm going to call Mom and I'm reversing the charges"
or "We have made good progress in reversing the damage done by the disease"

As for the headlights, I'll stay stock thanks. The C14 lights are pretty good anyways.

Could we reverse the direction of this thread back to being on topic?  ;D  ;)

(The above is an example, not a request...or am I reversing myself by such a notation?)
