I've read that a stock C14 is capable of ~10.7 in the right hands.

The V-rode is no slouch but stock vs. stock the C14 should have the edge.

Heck of an engine in the Vrod, what a waste of a good engine not being utilized in a sportier model.

I have a friend who has a VRod that is worked a little- intake, fuel processor, pipes. One day we were coming out of a town at around 35mph and he went WOT on me, I was in 2nd, ran it almost to redline, hit 3rd and was long gone. I let off the gas at around 130, and he was a good ways behind me. Only after I let off did he catch up and pass. The next time I saw him he said he couldn't believe how easily I took him.

Yep.  I'd even do the race with the bags and top case on just to prove a point.  Do like ZG does, get to the water box, get out a bottle of polish, buff her out a bit, and then stage

You should have absolutely no troubles taking him in a 1/4 mile unless you miss a shift or get a really bad start. By the time you hit 3rd gear @ ~10K, the only thing he will see is your tail lights. Because of it's torque, I think the V might be a little quicker in the hole. However, your high revving inline should have no problems taking him before the 1/4 mile is up. I rode a V for about 6 months before I sold it. It's a decent bike but really uncomfortable...

This is funny because I ride with a friend who has a newer Vrod. I'm 230 pounds and the wife is 130 pounds. Even with her on the back and my buddy by himself I can pull on him with ease. I will say that it is a challenge until you hit about 6000-7000 RPM's. They are no slouch from lower RPM's and in the 0-60 MPH range. If he catches you looking he will pull on you until you get the RPM's up and you will be long gone.

Back in '89, I bought a brand new leftover '85 Suzuki Madura. It was Suzuki's power cruiser, had triple disc brakes, shaft drive and a wonderful, V4 1200c motor. I think I paid $3200 for it.
Thirty years later, HD has a bike called the Vrod which has about the same power, crappier brakes and costs $$$. Call this progress
My C14 could waste the madura, so it should do the same to a Vrod. The only problem with a c14 is it feels dead flat gutless from 0-20mph, probably due to those stupid secondary flies.
