Ok, it seems the cat is out of the bag now in the wanted section so per the request from my bro Gsun I'll go ahead and post this up in the main section for all to dive in full force and give their thoughts/ideas... :) :grouphug: :chugbeer:
As some of you may know, when I was procuring C14 bodywork pieces for my "Go Green" paint project, right at the end of the journey I picked up a complete 3rd set of bodywork at too good of a price to pass up... (http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb336/jaywilcox/swiqe.gif)

I have a concept in mind that I think would be pretty cool, somewhat docile compared to the green set, but I think it still would be cool... 8)
Let me know your thoughts on this concept, but also please chime in on any other possible color/concepts that you'd like to see, let the ideas flow guys, don't hold back! ;) :chugbeer:
Ok, here's what I'm currently thinking... ???
I'm thinking have that 3rd set of bodywork done in this special "frosted black" (it's a flat black with a slight blue'sh tint hue pearl that only really shows in full sun over it and then mutliple clear coats over that, it's a really sick paint in person but from afar is pretty plain Jane, very opposite of the Golden Blaze green bodywork currently being done) and then do gold anodized wheels to match my Ohlins forks... :o

Here is an idea I have been tossing around in My head for a while. I'm thinking about an aircraft themed paint scheme. Going with a bright silver base, and airbrushing lines and shadows to make it appear as if the body is made of aluminum patches, with rivets on the seams. Even doing some smoked airbrushing behind the rear fairing vents to make it look like exhaust comes from there and dirties up the paint behind it. Possibly some WWII style nose art, if I could find a suitable idea for it. I think I have one. Be a lot of work, and I'd have to find an artist to do the nose art. Probably be hard to find one here.

+1 on the ohlins gold wheels.
+10 on the frosted black. It took me a while to analyze but it is really sweet the more you look at the examples.
The only other color I'd like to see on this bike would be a charcoal-bronze small flake metallic. (maybe a bit boring for a project paint though)

The color I see in my head is hard to duplicate. I'll keep looking for pics.
Imagine a metallic charcoal base layer with a bronze candy over it. For the most part being quite dark but the light grabbing the bronze.
One of my artistic kids said that would look good with copper too. Maybe gold.
I'll keep searching.
Anyway I still like that frosted black for it's cool quotient.

That Duc is pretty ugly. Wish I could find something better. Nothing on the net like what I'm thinking though. It would be cost prohibitive, anyways.

Not a fan of flat black vehicles. Reminds me of being in high school where my friends could only afford to restore bikes and cars to primer and never got any further.

Keep one set for your single colour set, but use the other to go for a theme. Here's a link to I site I once kept updated, but has some different paint schemes.

Heck you have a lot of canvas (compared to a cruiser's tank and fenders), an American flag theme that fades out into a burning hot streak could run well if you were the overt patriotic type.

BOT. Stock shield with nice graphics ghosted inside, maybe trimmed down a tad for a sporty look. I like the idea of the root beer brown not seen on these soils. Another idea? White for that LEO look, just add some pearl to make things pop.

Just throwing this out there. If you know a good airbrush artist this kind of 'image on distressed black' would be cool. Probably take you months just to come up with the graphics.
Would make the bike kinda' bad boy'. Then when you and your wife go through your midlife crisis you'll already have the bike for it. You can dress like slightly gay pirates and hang out downtown being badass on everybody.
I think this is the coolest helmet out there and illustates my colour scheme idea.

I have never been a fan of the flat black scheme on bikes but maybe it is just a lack of knowledge on my part. Can you wax it? Not looking for a shine, but at least want the water to bead. Always seemed to me that the lack of a clear coat would not bode well with a coat of wax.... but I could be wrong. I do like the black and gold idea, but not an uber glossy gold, that would look to "blingy" IMHO.

You'll want to use a satin or flat clear coat, not high gloss. If you put a high gloss clear coat over a flat black, it would look like your typical high gloss black. I've even clear coated flat black sealer and it came out looking like high gloss black paint, haha.
Most painters use 1K paints for flat finishes.

I've done ghost flames using a blue pearl over flat black. You can mix pearls with just about anything though...
I'm just a hobby painter. I've only shot a hand full of bikes, a couple jet skis and a few helmets in my lifetime, nothing major. It's a lot of fun to play around with but having the right facility is everything, and I don't have that...

Unfortunately I don't. I lost a huge collection of pictures in a HDD crash a few years back.
I searched the WEB and found something similar. It kinda' looked like this only instead of silver, it was blue and a bit more subtle.

The Honda Shadow Sabre had paint like that. I always like the subtle ghost flame look and the satin black looks really nice.

If you scroll down there are some subdued flames on a trash can. With a good airbrush artist it could look neat. I think very subdued would be the key. But then I'm a pretty subdued kinda guy. After your green paint this may not be flashy enough.
Just thinking out loud again... flat flat flat black (like the inside of a diesel exhaust pipe flat) and glossy flames. Like the flames have charred the rest of the bike.

While some do look cool, I suspect the flat paint treatments going on lately will be a fad that wears off. People love SHINY things, don't we?!

Ok, here's what I'm currently thinking... ???
I'm thinking have that 3rd set of bodywork done in this special "frosted black" (it's a flat black with a slight blue'sh tint hue pearl that only really shows in full sun over it and then mutliple clear coats over that, it's a really sick paint in person but from afar is pretty plain Jane, very opposite of the Golden Blaze green bodywork currently being done) and then do gold anodized wheels to match my Ohlins forks... :o

Steve - I have both Adobe Illustrator and another free program called paint.net ... neither of which are perfect for this kinda thing IMO, but each has their strong points, but I can try different things ... Ya'll describe what you want to see & I'll do my best to make it. Pink polka dots??! :D

With the right set of pipes that would be sick!! With the weight cut and Shorei battery that bike would haul the mail, one letter at a time. Plug in the ZX TBs and I bet it would approach the ZX :)
Get a good set of rearsets and clipons, CF cover on the airbox, and no badges. Keep them masses guessing.

Never did, no ... I guess Olive Drab Green is the same as Army Green?
I can use all these colors, by clicking my mouse ... I just don't know their names! Haha! That's a woman's thing, right?? (don't tell any women I said that!) ... except for Olive Drab Green / Army Green ... those are men's colors. To most men every other color is "red", "blue", "green" etc.

The wheels are gonna take some serious finaglin' ... The problem is because they're black now. In order to do these color changes well, the original pic has to have varying shadows; the black wheels you have are mostly just pure black in the pics. I'll see if I can find some silver wheels to work off of.

I'd do the camo bike in a heartbeat, windshield, lower cowling, rims, and all. Get a dark tan seat to compliment the entire thing.

Conniesaki, try grabbing one of the earlier pics from Jays progression thread, when his bike still had silver wheels. That may give you the contrast you need for the software to identify the lines.

At the top of this page is my wife's Spyder (http://www.worldclasswraps.com/SPYDER-RT.html). For her, this was a die-cut kit. I tried one piece and couldn't do it well. She spent about 30 hours on it over the course of a few weeks. I suspect without it being die-cut pieces but just big sheets to free form, it would be more difficult. She didn't have to deal with cut-outs like the vents in the fairing - just lots of complex and compound curved surfaces. She emailed about 3 local advertising shops and none of them would install it for her since they didn't supply it. You may have better luck in your area.

Thank you, sir! Quite a blast after having been bike-free for about 13 years! Had to get my 'bike legs' back! Didn't take long, though. Got some new tires on it, and man this bike is flick-able. And y'all may or may not know, but this is a 1,000 cc V-twin ... instead of screaming like typical crotch rockets, this bike has a deep, gnarly rumble ... sounds kinda like a Nascar! :D .. and a very linear power curve that starts down low.

I'm not normally a red fan but man-o-man does it look sharp with all the black bits! 8) :thumbs:

The advantage IMO is that I can see it on other bikes prior vs blindly hoping it looks good, plus the paint can always be ordered again if I need more. My thought on the 09 ZX14 paint was 2 fold, one being that it's from an 09 which i saw fitting for my 09, and the other being a Kawi color it might be more well received vs say a Ducati/Yamaha/Honda etc color...

That zx14 was so beautiful in person. In fact, it left such an impression on me, that I had someone paint my zx10 the exact same way. Now that was a badass bike....man do I miss it. I'll try to find some pics of it to post

OK, I dunno if you dislike the shape of the black 'number plate', the size of it, the lack of a graphic on it like the ZX has ... or maybe all of the above ... so here's a revision with it gone altogether. It will take me a few to get the lower to match the uppers.
