Ok, so I bought some Grip Puppies. Road about the 5 miles, turned around, came home and took them off.
While they are nice, soft and good quality, they didn't fit my hands and made the grip much to fat for me.
Yesterday I got a set of YehVeh shrinkwrap grips. I think they are available by many other names and they come in several different colors. They also come in different lengths but mine were precut to fit handgrip and these fit fine. They extend about and inch past the handgrip, covering a portion of the bar end weights. They cab be cut down but I left them as they don't look bad and they don't interfere with throttle movements.
They have sort of a matte feel and finish texture and greatly improve my grip. And they only add about 1/16th inch or less of thickness.
I used an old 1600 watt hairdryer I keep around for removing decals and such, on high. The instructions say to use hot water or a flame but the hairdryer worked just fine. Just about 3-5 minutes each side. They shrink tight enough that you can see some definition of the stock grips underneath. And, they only cost less than $10. Much cheaper than the Grip Puppies.
As I put them on last night haven't gotten to take a ride yet but just from the brief garage races I had last night I think they will perform great out on the road.
