I don't remeber who it was, but I do remember reading about someone adding a turbo and having trouble with the stock pistons. The C-14 pistons are not the same as the ZX 14 pistions - one is forged and one is cast. I can't remember which is which, but one is stronger and the C-14 does not use those. This person ended up having new pistions installed that were fine for a turbo. Good luck and keep us posted with the project if you go forward with it.

That's like saying you've had too much fun.  Might be true but you'd never admit it.   ;)

Spaz burned stock cast pistons. Then, he tried forged pistons and burned them too. The key to the problem is good tuning by a pro well experienced with turbochargers to ensure no detonation problems. A/F ratio must be finely controlled. Too lean will kill the pistons/rings. My system, including 9.5 CR JE forged turbo pistons, was installed and tuned by Chris Jones of Jonesperformancecycles.com in Chiefland, FL. He has world championships under his belt with turbocharged zx14's. Ten times world champ in real street class, Rickey Gadson, uses a Jones built system on his zx14r. Lew

I sent 2 responses to the ad and got no answer from the seller yet.

NO it is never fast enough.  Third gear power wheelies with saddlebags would be nice....

Yes, it will mostly bolt right up. The stock pistons can easily hold 7-8psi, so long as the fueling is on point. I burned up a set (or two...) because of some faulty/mismatched fuel system parts (Fretka did the same, but he was using the same fuel system parts from the same supplier....) Ah, the learning curve of forced induction DIY.

Turbo c14 = fun as hell. But don't expect 3rd gear power wheelies. 2nd gear can happen under the right circumstances, but you pretty much have to provoke it. Even 2-up it's stable as a barn full of horses once you're out of first gear. :)

Wasnt there a "Fretka" on here that was the turbo guru?  Seem to remember drooling over his pictures at one time or twenty.

Since my Kaw is now residing in about 500 pieces throughout my garage...there's not much chance of any kind of pressure likely to occur!
(unless the garage fairies come in the darkness of night to fix it for me)
No rush due to the ole back/spinal issues.
I've been trying to get all my astro equipment to talk to each other so I can start taking some photos (talk about a black/money hole!).
Prolly get inspired soon and fix the 1400 and then who knows? Riding these days hurts alot so the Duc will be sold fer sure.
I came into possesion of a '66 BB vette which I drive very infrequently, after riding bikes so long, sports cars just seem like a poor second place to the thrill of a bike.

Does the teflon throttle fix still work for you?

Howdy Fretka, back is still toast!!  Tuesday I think I may have herniated yet another disk-loading an empty trashcan into the truck >:(  I spent 5 days burning a massive stump pile with no issues, come home and do a simple chore >:( >:( >:(  Don't want to see the surgeon again.
