Hilarious, and true.  When I crashed they cut my britches, jacket, shoes off because they didn't know what was broken yet.  But my helmet was still taped to the backboard they carried me on - quite a sight my wife tells me.

Yep, on my last wreck they cut off my brand new pair of Red Wing boots.

But funnier yet, they cut the waist of my jeans, and my belt, when I went to the emergency room for a heart attack.  Heck, I would have unbuckled it for them ???

I was laying in the ER, fully clothed other than my shirt when a nurse asked if she could take my boots off- I responded that of course she could but she might not want to as those feet and socks had been in those boots for the last 60 hours straight and it was 102 F degrees yesterday. I am fairly tall and so my head is fairly distant from my feet but she was going to be standing really close to them. She seemed unfazed and proceeded to pull pretty violently on one boot (though she was going to pull me off the bed) until I stopped her, undid the flap and zipper on the boots....  By the way, I was right- she should have left well enough alone 'cause they could have treated me exactly the same for an irregular EKG but it would have been more pleasant for them with my boots left on. ‘Dem medicos are truly tough….
