Mounting Sena SMH10
« on: July 14, 2011, 01:42:05 PM »
My helmet got two ridges running along side the chin bar. This makes mounting the Sena bit hard - at least it does not go flush against the helmet. Wondering if you guys got any idea to circumvent this issue.

Pictures would help, but I would say that mine doesn't  appear to fit perfectly flush with the helmet. Sena had this in mind I'm sure when they built the system.

My Sena does not fit flush against the helmet either.  It is not going anywhere...

My helmet is the Shoei Qwest.

You could try the two sided tape mount w/o the clamp, clean the area with de-greaser and it will hold fine.

I tried the tape, with a degreaser, and it fell off on the first ride.  I decided to use the mechanical route.  The only thing I had to do was cut off a bit of the plastic lip on my Scorpion helmet.  Snug as a bug in a rug.

:yikes:  Maybe it was the degreaser that did it.  I used alcohol and my stick on has been on the helmet for 10k miles at speeds up to 130 and rain and sun and still strong.  Mine is a Shoei multitec.

Gorilla Glue makes velcro that holds nicely.

3M VHB. It's in the automotive section. Commonly used for applying trim and decals to vehicles.

Thats what I used, guess I should have used the correct words.

Mine clamped on my Multitec just fine.  Using both generations of clamps.

Sorry, have not got around to taking a picture. There is a big gap in the top of the mounting bracket. But it appears using the screws to mount, it is pretty snug. Guess I will not worry about it.
