not comfortable seating as a passenger

The first time went for a ride with my husband, found the seat to be the most uncomfortable seat he ever had. With each throttle was pushed forword, hitting his helmet. My tailbone was sore and constantly found myself trying to get into a comfortable position. Holding on the siderails didn't help either and or laying on the back rest.  Has anyone else had a passenger with similiar experience? If so what did you do to fix the problem?

What seat is on the bike now, the stocker I'll bet?

Sounds like you need a new seat. There are several options for aftermarket seats. Do a search here for seats, you'll get as many opinions of which seat is better as there are seats.

yes, the stock seat. I know needs to replace the whole seat.  Has had several different bikes over the years, some passenger seats great and other's had to replace.  Guess looking for some validation that it's just not me.  Just looking to be comfortable,  he loves ridiing and don't want him to think it's an excuse.  Thanks, for the feedback :)

I knew it wasn't the C10 (best passenger seat we've ever had).

The good news is the driver seat sucks too....so you both win a new spot to rest.

Russell is the 'cadillac', but many others can compete and improve a bad sit-uation.  ;)

As far as the hurky jerky goes.  Same thing happens to my wife.  You can mitigate those symptoms somewhat by doing two things.  One, make sure the throttle cables are adjusted correctly and two, install a G2 throttle tamer.  I just did and I can definitely feel a difference.  The bike is smoother on the shifts and it has just about eliminated the hurky jerky.

I was able to purchase a used Russell Day Long from a forum member. I love it and my rear end agrees with it. My local dealer put me in contact with a customer who had a Corbin and another customer who modified his seat own seat. Definitely attempt to "test sit" a seat before you make a purchase and remember that the same seat does not work for everyone.

My wife was a ticked off with me when she saw that I had bought a Corbin to replace the new undamaged stock seat but by the time we got to the freeway on that day she was telling me how great it was. Not only was she not sliding back and forth but it raised her enough to see better.

The only way my Sargent could be better is if it were supplied with a ball-gag.   As far as the hurky-jerky feeling, I learned to be smoother with the throttle and did soem slight mods to help.  Still, 80% of the improvement was from me.  This bike is VERY responsive and takes some time to get familiar with.

I tried taking her on the Jet ski she leans the WRONG way?

My wife thinks the stocker is great......then again she rode from Mi to Pa on a stock 2009 Aprilia Tuono seat. :o.

I modified the riders seat and it is actually pretty good now. I would be okay leaving it the way it is but have done nothing to the passenger portion.  I will be getting a Baldwin when things stop breaking around my house though.

A follow-up, please.  Are you riding with a backrest?  I rode a lot whit my dad before I was old enough for  a license of my own.  A great seat without a backrest was nothing and always felt insecure.

The herky jerky feeling maybe more of a throttle issue or suspension issue (if it is happening on braking, bums, etc). But everyone is different - so the stock seat may not work out for you. My wife have no issue with it - I, however, got a few issue. I am planning to buy a used seat around fall and have it moded. I might do a few things to the passenger side as well to increase her comfort.
