Hot, Hot hot
« on: July 04, 2012, 03:05:53 PM »
Well, I guess it is a good thing that the wife had her back surgery last week, and that i am her main care giver. So that is my excuse for not riding right now, not that the 98 deg. and high humidity has anything to do with it.
The breezway between my garage and my condo is 112, and I'm grilling out tonight, sizzle.
We here in the Ohio Valley are expecting record highs through the weekend, and those wonderful evening T-Storms that are just a fact of life here in this OV.
I know most on here are getting into those 90 + temps also, how hot is it your backyard?
And remember to stay hydrated, ride safe all.
Greg   :P

We went out for a mid Michigan back roads ride - was watching the thermometer which is quite accurate and temps ranged from 96 - 101 during the ride.  At 98 degrees, you can tell when you hit a couple higher yet.

We got back and my brother in law said that his son in El Paso is probably well in triple digits.  We were watching a bit of NASCAR pre-race stuff and thought it must be REALLY hot down there.

So we checked:

El Paso - 85 degrees

Daytona - 75 degrees

Flushing, MI - 98 degrees

That whole idea of leaving Flowriduh to escape the summer heat is getting turned on it's head the last coupla years.

North Branch MN, temp 93, dew point 76, heat index 106. One of my brothers lives there.

Red Wing MN, temp 97, dew point 73, heat index of 107. I and wifey usta live there.

Tavares, FL, temp 90, dew point 70, heat index of 94.

Kinda makes ya wonder.

Something wicked comes your way, Jay.

I hear the heat will be moving towards you by the beginning of the week.  You best find some way to store that good weather.

96 on the 4th, air only in the bedroom, but, we keep the house closed up during the day and it only gets to maybe 82 inside, basement is much cooler. 96 forecast for Friday, I'm working, I'll be on the Engine so its not too bad, no air on that pig either, but I won't be going in on anything burning, I leave that to the young Turks.

Yep, it's supposed to get into the 80's today and for the rest of the week and all of next week it's supposed to be mid to high 80's, perfect! Even better we leave for vaca again this Sunday, taking the RV to the coast for a week, should be perfect down on the coast, probably low to mid 70's and sunny!

Well, 7 weeks of vaca, I took a week last Thanksgiving/Christmas that leaves me 6 weeks for this summer...  ;) 8)

Good timing though on the weather heat up, the folks that will be house sitting for us called last night and said they were looking forward to using our pool all week, works out nice for all!  :)

Temperature was about 103 in Central VA on yesterday. Think we are supposed to get a break later this week.  With these high temperatures, the Connie is parked. I occasionally catch an early morning ride. The only bikers I see are mostly cruisers or scooters. For the most part, they do not wear protective gear, save an open faced helmet. Most ride with shorts  and tee shirts.

Set a new record here, for my weather station anyways.

Yesterday
100 with a heat index of 112, both at 1:43p.

6/28 had a heat index of 116

I can't ride in these temps either. Well, I can, but I won't. I've seen a few bikes out. No one with gear or a helmet though.

Most ride with shorts and tee shirts.

Try it some time, feels great! ;D

When it's this hot out, I'll take frequent breaks, soaking down the t-shirt(usually dries out w/in 20 minutes or so anyway) & re-hydrating.
