Good idea Jim (although you're breaking your own rules on 'fluff' postings
),
Came across the PNW Police Bike Rodeo last weekend here in Portland OR, in the K-Mart parking lot at 122nd & NE Sandy. They invited all "Association" members from Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and British Columbia to compete. These are all officers who have passed the certification tests to ride.
I only found 3 active duty C14s there, even though there were a hundred+ bikes. There was also a demo C14 bike from Authority Sales (the guys who won the contract to supply the Police version C14). It's the yellow one. They also had a brand new one in the trailer they were delivering to Milwaukee Oregon PD.
Most of the bikes were BMWs, as that's what Portland PD uses, and they were hosting the event. Second would be the ST1300's, then the HDs. Saw 3 HD's go down in the first 10 minutes I was there, and they were grinding everything, every turn. The BC mounties really now how to push their HDs though, and they had a couple of really close calls. Saw one smoke the front tire in a near miss.
Beaverton has been using ST1300s for awhile, so I was surprised to see they now have a C14. The 2010 blue C14 is one of Gresham PDs.
Interesting side note, while chatting with the guy who developed the Police C14 conversion from Authority Sales, he told me an update on the 2011 models is the steering locks were changed to allow tighter turning radius. Apparently it was done by Kawi in response to feedback from Police testing.
