KIPASS Storage
« on: May 28, 2012, 01:54:37 PM »
Just wondering where are you keeping your KIPASS Transponder when you are out riding. There is no keyring on it, so I cannot attach it safely to anything. I am just worried I will loose it when I am out somewhere. If it were attached to a keyring it would be so much better.

It does have a hoop cast into it, so I ziptied a keyring to it. Have both my bike keys and house keys on it. Front pants pocket for me.

Most have been a small Zip Tie. I put a piece of thread through, but it seems like it might break

There are lots of neck lanyards with stong string/cord loops - often designed to carry mp3 players.

It stays in the inside pocket of my riding jacket. There is no reason that it needs to be quickly available.

Mine (active fob) is actually in my zipped, inside motorcycle jacket pocket.  I never take it out of the jacket.  I keep the spare (small passive fob) in my pack, which gets put into one of the side cases when I am riding.

As I pointed out in another thread, this does pose a problem on the rare occasions when I try to lock my jacket into the side bags, since it is close enough to allow the bike to engage.  In such a case, I have to remember to take it out first.

Try a little piece of braided 40-60 lb fishing line, or steel leader material using the crimping sleeves.  If it'll hold a 60 lb fish the odds of your breaking it are slim.

Yes, a small zip-tie fits fine. I have two big fobs now, I bought a spare, and I have 'em set up the same way.

+1...when bike is home, always keep fob in the same cabinet. I don't keep it in my jacket because quite often I leave my jacket on the bike or in the side bags

I put mine in a zip lock bag and then in a cell phone holder with a velcro flap closer.  That goes on my belt and stays there.  Out of the way, but always works.  I had a copy of the key made and it's on a ring with the key to the trunk and one for a bike lock cable I carry.  Those are in my pocket. When I stop I usually put my jacket on the windshield over the dash.  I don't want those needles melting again!

Right pants pocket. Tried putting it in my jacket, but I sometimes leave my jacket on my bike.

That's where I keep mine as well. It's inside the inside pocket inside of a ziplock baggie. Like Max, if I have to lock my jacket inside of the bags for some reason I have to remove the fob from my jacket first.

Mine stays in the left front pocket of my Tour Master mesh riding pants.  The Velcro at the top of the pocket won't let anything out.  The right front pocket is reserved for the trunk Fob.
