Help with fairing part number.
« on: May 09, 2012, 11:34:10 AM »
I dropped my Connie yesterday.  I slipped on the bike cover that was carelessly thrown on the ground by some mindless fool(read me).

I have an '08 and I need the middle fairing piece on the right hand side. This is the part of the fairing with the turn signal in it.

I have looked at the parts fiche and there are a lot of numbers. I have an idea of the part number, but there have been a couple of other opinions. I am not 100 % sure what part to order.

Has anyone replaced this piece on an '08? Do you know the part number?

Thanks,
Huero

I have.  It's either 55028A or 55028C.  Not sure what the difference is at the moment.   I'm thinking A but I'll have to look and see if I still have my order for it.  Don't forget that it comes with nothing.  Absolutely nothing but the silver plastic bit.  You have to order separately all of the well nuts, decals, whatever...

Thanks for the heads up, Virginia.
On rmatv parts fiche under cowling(center) it shows 55028a as the left hand side and 55028d as the right hand side. I was unable to locate the 55028c.
If still have your order, that would be awesome.

Thank you,
Huero

This is by no means all the parts you may require.  Some I was able to move.  Others not so much.

Thanks Virginia.,
I will get it ordered.
Just so I am sure, the 55028-0186-17n is the piece with the blinker, right?

Thanks for looking up your order, I appreciate your effort.

Yep, the blinker doesn't come with it either...  I collided with a C10 some years back and it put a hole in the fairing.

It's been told a time or two.  In a group ride some years back I was following a C10 at a pretty good clip.  Darn, low fuel message comes on, look down, look up, he's making a quick turn to the right, he's slowing quickly, I try to do the same, ABS kicks in, start to vere to the left, not enough time to miss him, his side case holes my right fairing, I wobble a bit and stay upright thank goodness.  I smudged his side case.  He holed my fairing.  Moral....don't follow too close and keep your eyes up front especially when group riding.

For sure, that could have been really bad. I am glad a little plastic was all that needed fixing.

Thanks again for the help, Virginia.
