Key off but everything was on!

I parked my bike at work this morning and went inside, around noon we had a huge downpour.  I didn't think anything about it until I went out to jump on and leave.  As I walked up to my bike the city lights and dash were on so I figured I left the key on.  Nope.  The key was in the off position and I couldn't get it to move even with putting the KiPass FOB up by the ignition switch.  I went back inside to grab a couple tools to pull the battery and try to reset everything.  I get back out to my bike and every thing is normal.  Anyone had an ignition switch do this?

I had this happen on an excavator, left the cover open and it came a downpour on the ignition switch. Everything the key operated was on without the key in it, after it dried out in a few hours everything was back to normal.

I think the water had your switch shorted.........

That is what I figured.  It was weird how it just went away five minutes after I noticed it.  I'm not to worried about it but I might try to find a cover for the days when I know I will be parking my bike in the rain.

WHAT?!?!  NO KIPASS QUIPS YET?!?!?  This has been posted for 4.5 hours?!?  There may be something to this "the world is ending in 2012" thing...

My apologies- I was busy and did not see this until now.

Jeremy- I believe what you saw was another undocumented feature of KiPass; did you by chance park the bike w/in 15 degrees of true north? I thought so- as the planet rotated the bike was swept through the magnetic field and was generating excess voltage. KiPass was merely bleeding that off while doing other its other secondary functions such as making more oil (see threads about this- some say C-14 crankcases actually fill up as you use them), checking the quality of the fuel (to change the micron passage size of the fuel filter as necessary) and all of the other, thankless jobs it does on a minute- to- minute basis. Then again, I guess it could be water in the ignition switch. Nothing to worry about either way when KiPass is on the job- look how it spiffed up your drivetrain noise. 

As far as the world ending in 2012- yep, that was going to happen.... why do you think Kawasaki introduced KiPass in the first place? All fixed up....

Maybe this is the reason that Kawasaki is willing to sell the extended extended GTPP? My bike is covered till 2018 but it seems that I won't need any coverage past the end of this year eh?

I guess if one wants to steal a Connie, just bring a power washer and hose down the ignition with the most powerful nozzle. When the lights turn on, press the starter and ride away!
