Adding Power Outlet

I am wanting to add an extra Power Outlet to my 2010 C14 ABS. There is a factory outlet on the Right Side of the Cluster. There is a Blank on the Left Side, that looks like it would be simple to install an outlet. Before I take things apart and find some reason why it does not work. Has anyone done this. It looks simple..... is it??

There's not much space behind that knockout.  I don't know what Kwak was thinking when they put it there.  Non-functional symmetry perhaps?

It is has never been my friend and I have tried by best to be friends with it. Once in awhile it is a little accomodating but, never friendly ;)

I did this and the finished results were good. However, be prepared for some major dremmel tool work. There's a square metal bracket behind that dummey hole that no after-market plug will fit thru, at least any that I could find. So I had to dremmel it out to fit the dimension of the plug being carful not to get it to big or the retaining nut of the plug won;t have enough surface to provide a good mount. Also, that dummey hole doesn't just pop out- it must be cut out.

Once installed you can connect your new plug to the acc. leads under the left cover. This job is not recommended for the squimmish. Grinding metal and cutting plastic on a $12,000 bike can make you sick.

I'll post up some pics when I get off the couch. Mine is a 2009.

I see. I was merely giving my experience to the op. If we are not discuss what has already been discussed then what fun is the forum? Eventually there will be nothing left to discuss as it will already have been discussed :)

Thanks guys for your help. Curly's description sounds like it is do-able. I'll give it a go in the next week or so. Great descriotion, but i am sorry I am covering ground alraedy discussed.

I've done the same thing as Curly using a factory power socket,  I used a Foredom to make the square hole round, but is very doable.

Looks very good!  You know, you got to wonder about Kwak and why they just didn't add another power outlet there.  Maybe they stamped out both plugs and then came to the conclusion that there really wasn't enough room after the fact in the mock ups.  Who knows?

Probably because they saved ~$3.00 by not doing so...
