That sucks!

I don't care how big the hornet was; I would have stood my ground rather than letting the bike fall down. :)

^^I think, he thinks, that is your hand holding the giant hornet...

I once had a wasp fly up inside my helmet and start stinging my face. I was stung 6 times before I came to a stop, tore off the helmet and smashed that sucker. The giant hornet is a bit more intimidating.

Is that thing real or a fancy photoshop job?
We have big hornets but nothing like that.  Maybe about a quarter that size.
You could open a season if they're that big.

Man, I hate that for you.  If that hornet is real, I'm glad we don't have those here.

Those are Japanese hornets.  Nasty buggers, they are.  I can remember some years back, I was riding on my GL500 SilverWing down a narrow country road when I felt something bump into my chest.  My leather jacket was open at the top so whatever it was slid down between my jacket and shirt.  I felt it crawling and decided to do beat it to death with my left hand.  Wrong strategy.  It started stinging me and there was nowhere to stop.  I finally found a driveway to stop in, jumped off the bike like a madman and started ripping of clothes.  I must have got stung 5 times by that sob. And it had the nerve to survive and fly off afterwards.  I'm not allergic to bee stings but I did feel a bit funny after that and contemplated either going home or finish off the ride.  I decided if I was going into shock I would rather go out on the bike.  I finished the ride.  My wife wasn't happy with that decision after I told her what happened.

I’m mildly allergic to insect stings and if one of those giant hornets stung me on the hand it would have swollen up like a watermelon. The last time I was stung I stepped on a bee and I couldn't wear a shoe for 3 days.
