my traction control must be broke

because for the 1st time in 47,000 miles and two years my bike was wheelying all over during the sportbike ride today. The third time it caught me so off guard i SLAMMED the front down.

i gotta get it in some loose sand or wet grass and put it through the traction test, warranty man may be getting my bike finally after all this time.

i thought maybe I had it disabled but pushed the button and then the yellow disabled warning light came on so I think it was right initially.

What would traction controll have over a wheelie? I don't have traction control on my 09 and so far have not had a wheelie problem.  ;)

Back in 1974 I had a Z-1A which got weird at 7400 miles. There was a few times I had to hit the rear brake to get it back down. The front end of my little triple was always in the air.....even when I was not trying to.

I would think it would throw a code if it was malfunctioning...

But I don't know much about it. My bike doesn't have TC on it, or ABS with linked brakes, and I'm glad.

If I want to do a burnout or carry the front wheel down the street, I want that choice available. :)

Traction control compares the front and rear wheel speed and the computer doesn't allow them to be a different speed, SUPPOSED to prevent wheelies and burnouts which to date it always has.

Uhhhm traction control can be disabled.

Aside that its proven trillions times over street and trac the same rider brakes faster with ABS.

If I was closeminded to the latest available performance technologies I'd be rockin' a hardley-ableson with a "springer" suspension and if the air force had that 'tude they would have a fleet of bi-planes

Yeah and it would be a kinder world. Bi Planes on a aircraft carrier would be sorta cool.  Traction contol on a Cown Vic about got me stuck one time. Turned it off and away we went. No wheelie though.

Me thinks, I've been wrong before, stevewfl means the vehicle stops faster with ABS. No argument from me. I don't think he means the driver gets on the brakes faster. No backwards wheelie with ABS either.... ::)

Nicky Hayden loves drifting through turns, and I like it sometimes as well. 8)

I'm not 1/10th as fast as Nicky, but still love sliding my bike. I like ABS in cages, but not traction control or anti-sway. My new truck has that crap, and it limits what I want to do. ::)

I don't need a computer to save me. I can control my ride. ;D

Always check the easy stuff first.  It may be nothing more than a dead fuse or loose connector.

Wouldn't something like that trigger a fault code?  It would be a pretty questionable design if safety systems such as ABS and TC could just go offline silently...
