Frame Sliders // Tip Over Protection
« on: November 21, 2011, 05:09:10 PM »
Glad we are back online, been itchin getting some feedback from you guys (didn't get too much luck on COG-Online, not a slam, just sayin):

Santa promised to bring me farkles for Christmas, and I even get to custom tailor my wishlist...So I'm eyeballing some frame sliders and tip over protection.

1. Does anyone know if the topblocks (zat what they are called?) get in the way of Air Bakers Lowers?  Looks like they might. THEY DO...JUST FOUND SOME PICS ON THIS SITE THAT SHOW THE MOUNT...

2.  Same question MC Enterprises tip over kit. I know they are ugly but are they the most functional?

3.  GSG Frame Sliders versus R&G?  any info?

4.  some other kind I'm missing?

I have the gsg sliders on my c14.  They are well made, and I do believe they would offer frame protection.  I have short legs and these are positioned to where I smack my left shin on a regular basis.  Not hard, or painful, but this could be better.

I think there woudl be enough room. The GSG;s do sit below the middle fairing completely.

Will, I cannot find a big pic of the lower guard, but I think gsg guards would hit the very top of the lower guard.  The wing could be cut to clear.  This would look amazing.  Maybe something like a 1.5 inch hole saw....

Try this web site, this is the way I plan on going, unless someone thinks or knows that this setup is bad.
Good luck.

Here's a pic of the GSG mounting, you should be able to tell if the wings will get in the way or not from this.

Thanks Conrad,  approx how much space is between the slider shaft and the lower faring?  The bakers need a lil less than half an inch clearance for the brackets.

I'd have to go out to the garage to check, I'll do that when I ride to work and get back to you. Here's another pic, it looks like a lil less than half an inch might work.

Yeah!!  The left side looks like good clearance. Just can't really tell from right side.

Here you go Will, there's about an 1/8~1/4 inch between the fairing and the shaft. The fairing flexes enough right there that I think you'd have no problem getting 1/2" of clearance in there.

Well, there was a LOT of talk about the GSG on the old board, especially as to how effective or not they are or would be in protecting exactly what and under what circumstances.  I don't recall any overwhelming conclusion, other than "some protection is better than none".
