Powdered graphite usually works well.

I use Lock Ease- it looks like this:http://www.amazon.com/Lock-Ease-Graphite-Lock-Fluid-3-4/dp/B0006MWPZA

It is graphite in a liquid vehicle, and the liquid evaporates fairly quickly. A drop or two applied to the key and the key inserted into the lock should be enough. By the way, wipe the key off 'cause you won't want to get graphite on your clothes (or anything from your gashole for that matter).

I am not really a connoisseur but according to some commercials, you would want one that is not too hard and not too soft. Also, slight embossing on the material itself seems to be common and at least somewhat desirable.

You can wipe the key with anything handy though.

KiPass keeps my gashole key in check, and has for >45,000 miles. Now the dude that wouldn't give up the GREY POUPON is screwed, as he had no KiPass

One wonders what the rich use to wipe up the grey poupon, or any other color for that matter.

As Brian said you can use Lock ease. I use straight graphite which is what Lock Ease is, just without the liquid carrier.

May not have been the right thing to do, but I gave the locking mechanism (the lugs, not the key hole) a couple of quick shots of Remington gun oil and worked the key a few times. Everything loosened up quite nicely and has worked perfectly ever since.

I use a Motorcraft Penetrating and lock lubricant spray. It works quite well.

I spraya little WD-40 on the key once in a while. Works for ignition and gas cap. It might even help KiPass because I never had a problem... ;)

So much for self lubricating gas holes...

I used something called drislide at one time or another.  It's another liquid based graphite lubricant.

Comes with an easy to use applicator.

Wouldn't "gas filler lock" be a bit more descriptive?   ::)

What are you guys doing to keep your gashole fuel filler key lubed.  Mine is getting so I unlock the gas cap and the key stays turned!  I have 30,000+ miles and never lubed it.

My bike is still "new", and yet I am developing an issue with the keyhole turning white with some type of corrosion.  It is now very difficult to get the key in or out, and to turn the sucker.  Bike is always stored in the Cycle Shell, so I don't know what is causing it (there is no corrosion anywhere else on the bike).
