Vance Hines CS one slip on
« on: October 27, 2011, 08:18:44 AM »
Has anyone tried a V&H slip on?
when I had my 08 I put on a Dale Walker and liked the looks over the bazooka but thought it was a little loud for me. I got a DB killer from him and then I liked it all
now that I am fixin up the new 2012 I was thinking I like the looks of the new V&H cs one and wonder if anyone has tried it yet

JimmyMac has one and it sounds nice.  You might send him a PM for more details.

I believe there is only one maybe two people now that have the insert.
I would start with Fred Harmon as I think he was the second to order the insert.
I don't recall the first one.

I am wondering.  When you guys ride in a group with the CS One, do the other riders make any comments about the volume of the pipe.

It is mildly louder at idle, and hardly noticeable around town. However, if you really get on the throttle, the sounds is unreal. Very awesome WOT sound.

Never had a complaint about the volume of the CSOne.  I get more complaints about my "obnoxious" Hyperlight brake lights.

This is the one slipon pipe I have been considering.  Do you have to "re-map" or is it optional?  Anything else that has to be done or dealt with when swapping out for this slipon?  I have put on muzzy slips and VH also in the past and didn't have to change anything...

No need to remap. You'll get some decel pop, but that's it.

If you want a lot of power on command, pull the secondary butterflies, get the pipe, and map it. It's a whole different beast.

I love the sound of mine.  8)

that is a nice looking and nice sounding pipe. i'm not a "loud pipes save lives" rider, even my cruiser had stock pipes, but I can barely hear the stock pipe on the C14 unless I'm really getting on it. This looks like a nice change, not too loud at idle or low speed, but a nice throaty sound when you crank it.

My wife is going to kill me. I just know it. My bike isn't a month old yet and I've already spent about 800 bucks on accessories. The only good thing is I'm not spending household money, it's money I got from selling some of my old music gear that I was going to turn into more music gear but threw some at the bike instead.

2 gigs and I can have my pipes!

I know I have asked this before, but has anyone checked out the Delkevic mufflers. They are available in SS and carbon fiber (SS about $150 & CF for  under $200). They are good looking mufflers and the sound is awesome. I know they don't list one for the C-14 yet but all you have to have is the outlet diameter of the exhaust midpipe and they can get the right muffler to fit. All the hanger brackets are adjustable for various applications. I'm using a GSXR-1000 can on my C-10 with awesome results. Their website is delkevic.us.

Awesome sound is relative to the ears that are listening... I think the V&H one sounds awesome... I didn't see any sound clips on their website.  They look pretty good but I never order pipes without hearing them first.

Went to their site, but did not see anything for the Concours.  Besides the diameter, wouldn't the length and angles of the pipe be relevent to making it fit?

They sell two different length mufflers (350m/m & 450m/m) and the strap bracket can be mounted anywhere on the muffler so mounting is pretty flexible compared to mufflers with welded stationary brackets. Being  a C-10 guy I forgot, we have to modify everything to fit our C-10's.
If I had someone with a C-14 close to me that I could get the pipe measurements from I could do the
math and figure out how to mount one of these babies pretty quick.

I'm surmising that you are talking about cutting off the old muffler can, and re-using the original pipe?   I think that's where I'm getting confused.  That's what happens when C10 people post in a C14 thread!  ;D  I like my farkles "slip on", "plug and play", "custom fit", "easy installation", "batteries not included", "no tools required", "easy installation"... you get my point.  When I wander over into C10 land, I see things like: machining wheels, re-gearing drive gears, CARBURETORS, OMG!!! :o  I think I need a latte! :D
