I guess I side stepped a few steps when explaining. I push the key in (doesnt everybody
) and it was stuck. I used the fob proximity trick placing it at 12 o'clock to the gizmo the key is in. It didnt turn at all, well, that is until it released but then turned freely and didnt actuate the display etc. The last time I had a fob to far from the ecu it showed "transponder". Knowing I had replaced batteries last summer I didnt think to try the other fob (shoulda had a -mr- Pepsi first). Ignoring the kiss principle I made it more complicated. After the 2nd post I used the other fob and behold, it works. Never trust those Walmart batteries!
My bike battery was run down too and I think this provided the extra raised eyebrow factor leading me deeper into the troubleshooting dilemma.
Thx to all!
