Cruise Control switch.

who here has done away with the switch that came with the Audiovox or Rostra cruise and wired in their own switches? I saw some on the pre crash forum and I would like to know how it was done.

I'm just getting ready to wire some switches from digikey do this. I have some info on the way the rostra switch is wired but am not at home till tomorrow. I will see what I have to post. Was thinking of using the headlight flasher switch for mph set/coast command and one switch for resume/acceleration and another (maintained) switch for on off. The rostra pad works but takes up space and is too far from the handgrip.

  The way I read it is the Red wire will go to the ON, OFF, SET and RESUME
Brown wire will go to OFF
Green wire will go to SET
Yellow wire will go to RESUME
Using 2, 3 position normally open momentary toggle switches.
Correct?
Not sure about something here....when the Resume is pressed it connects the Red and Yellow for a moment, Set connects Red and Green, Off connects Red and Brown, but when On is pressed it is only hooked to the Red wire so what does it connect to? Things that make you go Hmmmm!!

The connection between the red and brown wires is held closed to keep the unit powered up. You can use a toggle switch for that circuit. You can also just jump the red to brown wire on the controller connection but then the unit will be on whenever the bike is powered up and the CC cannot be shut off manually. So you cannot use a momentary contact switch to keep the unit powered up, it must be a maintained type switch.

The other two switches must be momentary contact type. They can be normally open or normally closed as there is a switch in the actuator to choose which type of switch is being used. Decel / Set and Accel / Resume connect power to the green and yellow wires although I may have the order backwards.

There is a latching circuit in the original Rostra switch that holds it on once the 'ON' button is pressed. So the entire switch acts like a maintained switch itself.

Perfect, now I got it!
  The latching circuit in the original switch confused me because it looked like a momentary switch between the Red and Brown. Standard toggle for the Off/On and the Momentary for the Set and Accel. Now I don't have to try to waterproof the original switch pad that got wet and quit working.

Glad we could help. Instead of two switches I used one mini  3 position momentary for the Set/Reset function
