Toll Pass mounting
« on: July 23, 2011, 09:11:03 PM »
I've searched but no results.  How do you mount your ez-pass/toll pass on the bike.  I know it can be placed in the tank ag, but I am looking for a better(?) mount

Mounted mine behind the black plastic panel just behind the windscreen, can see it and it works great.

I stuck my right hand side under the black plastic under the right hand. Facing down like a windscreen it seems to work 90% of the time going slow.

I keep mine in the clear map pocket of my tankbag (always ride with a tankbag). I've never had the toll booth miss it and I don't have to worry about it being stolen.

Since I don't want to have it fall off, or put velcro on the bike, mine goes in the top pocket on the tank, and I remove it when I roll through the booth.  Works for me.

I mounted (stuck) mine on the upper part of the inside of my bag.  Seems to work OK.

I mount mine on a Ram Mount, mounted to the front brake mount. I bought the magnetic plate used for Radar detectors, removed the magnets and stuck the EZ Pass to the plate with the heavy duty velcro that comes with the EZ Pass, works great. I just remove it when I'm not using it.

That works for the 08-09 bikes. (that's what I did) But on the 10-11 bikes would probably be sideways!

Glove box worked on my 08  not the 2010. I just pull it out of my back let pocket and hold it with my left hand. Some times I just go without touching it. They won't send me a violation without checking my plate number and funds. So I just run it about 40% of the time. They get their money.

I tried that, I thought it was the perfect place until I used it. It seems that if the windshield is up it couldn't be
read, if down then it read fine. I'm going to try it in the glove box ('10) next time. I don't use the NTTA tollway
that much, maybe once or twice a month.

I have mine in the same place as bbh under the plastic.  Like you with my CeeBailys up it doesn't read but I like not seeing it. So I just put the screen down at tolls it works fine.  If the had the factory screen on small or large it  worked up or down.  To me not seeing it and not loosing storage was the way to go.

Well, have a great trip... but i'm still wondering "up and under what."   Usually, I just hold mine in my hand or have my wife do it.  I have a couple Ram Mount power plates, gonna try that when I get a chance.  It's a real bummer when they don't work, so I try to keep  it close at hand.

I have it opposite side to to where the glove box is, up underneath. It works most of the time, there is one toll in Boston on the Turnpike where I know it doesn't work, otherwise its been pretty reliable if I go slow through the toll.

Stuck to the plastic "thingy" on the tank where the Glovebox would be on an 08-09.  Using the stock velcro they give you,  haven't had a problem yet :)

Mine works in the glovebox on my bike (same place as yours is mounted as I have an '08) but it only works if installed upside down. I guess really it is right side up but the writing on the unit has to be on the bottom, as it would be if mounted in an auto windshield.
