My pain in the neck is a herniated disc between C5/C6. Strangely enough it wasn't the forum, as I suspected earlier. Going to the Doc today to see what to do about it. I'm hoping non-surgery at this point but we'll see.I'm really glad you could avoid a forumectomy. I hear those can be painful.
Well, well indeed. I've never been able to do that and most likely never will. Being a spectator to such things is enough, I suppose. In all seriousness Jim, good luck with it.
Well, the Dr. is saying no surgery at this point and has given me drugs to try. I'm all for the drugs, of course, but I think in the interim I'm going to lose some weight and exercise a bit more than I do now which is nil. I would think riding a MC would be enough but it appears I need something more. I've walked around the block once (nearly had a heart attack)..... So I'm going to try to drop 30 lbs. He wanted me to stop drinking. I told him I won't drink no more (won't drink any less either). I have one beer a night and it's light so that's a non-starter.
I may talk to a chiropractor and see if they can help....
Oh, he upped the drug dose and it seems to be helping a bit. It's Neurogtin or something like that.
In all seriousness Jim, good luck with it.+1 Get well soon!
I've travelled the same road and this is what I found helped. First take a supplement called Silica everyday, I use Bamboo Silica as it has high potency and reasonable cost.
Does it have alcohol in it?
On the dark side, my wife has offered to take up riding and become the rider. She's offered to let me ride bi***. She has also offered to buy me a leather jacket with fringe and a pair of leather chaps. Needless to say, this is not going to happen in anyone's lifetime so I've got to get this issue resolved.
I like the fact she can ride the bike if we crash and my injuries would keep me from getting help.
I am glad you're getting better!
Maybe you should try sleeping in separate bed for 100% cure...
Something simple like changing your pillow can make all the difference on how you sleep!
My wife has often been the rider and me the bi***. She cannot see over me or around me very easy and while she says she loves my back side it makes for a boring visual while riding. So on long rides I would let her take over. Once she even went so far as to ask me to hold her purse. As she was packing a 357 mag in her purse .. it was not an issue for me.

Me riding bi*** was over 20 years ago and since my have bikes got taller .... she is not up to riding with a passenger as she is 5'7" and has trouble with passengers in slow traffic or tight turns...
On the issue of neck pain, last month I finally got to Dr to have an MRI done of my neck .... found 3 compressed discs with bulges ... the joy of getting old and crashing too many times ... For back pain I also had an MRI years ago and found a bulged disc and had a steroid injection that has provided significant improvement. I am not sure if that can be done on the neck.
Best Wishes
Got the neck injection and almost 80% pain gone for at least a few months. Steroid injection under local with live X-ray to ensure the nerves do not get nicked. Wish it was 100% but at least 80% life can fun again.
If it's like carpal tunnel, you can only inject so many times and then it's surgery time. Glad your issue was alleviated by the injection, though. Totally glad I didn't get one. Just the thought of a needle going into my back gives me the shivers as does a knife.
