LSL handlebars
« on: May 13, 2011, 02:49:57 PM »
Anyone have the LSL handlebar kits installed? These are where they supply new h-bar clamps so you can use regular (ProTaper "Fat Bar") style handlebars. Easy to customize the bars to fit your particular/peculiar dimensions. I know they have them for the Concours as I've seen photos.

Seriously considering this, so would appreciate some feedback.

Got and love'em.  I find the bike handles 10x better in the twisties than when I had 1 3/4" risers.  I probably got 4k miles with them and wouldn't go back to stock.

Did you get a taller bar, shorter bar, what? How tall are you?

I've got risers in but they make me feel a little disconnected from the front end.

Pics to follow, but I love em as well, it feels more fluid during cornering, Baker hand wings still work, and I get to use the back half of the seat.  I also love the mounting options open to me, I've been eyeing an awesome cup holder, should go really good with the leather tassles streaming from the end of the bars :-X
I did expect the stainless lines to improve the brake feel, but I guess it's hard to improve something that works so well.  I'd do it again.

Maybe someone like Murph would offer up a group buy on these? If they were cheaper I would order a set! Have any of you that ordered these got a deal from anywhere?

i'm sure this would be driver dependent, but how is the view in the mirrors? with stock bars I have the bar ends show in the middle inside of the mirror.  do these new bars show much in the mirrors?

thanks for the link man!  they almost look like dirt bike bars.

That's what they are. A German version of ProTapers. One of the reasons I'm getting this, as lots of bar options in terms of height, sweep, color.

I'm just wondering what is the best option for Bar End Weights for the LSL handlebar that I am about to install.

Can I reuse the OEM Bar end Weights? If so, is there an easy way to mount them?

I don't want to use a Throttlemeister.

Thanks

The bars are hollow on the ends. So you will either have to get bar end weights with the rubber plug that expands to hold them in, or do as I did and get two nuts, knock a little off each point so they slide into the bars, then using a good epoxy glue, secure them in the bars, then you can use any bar end that bolt on.

Also there aren't any holes in the bars to locate the control mount "tabs".  What I did was grind the tabs off.

Do the LSL's transmit anymore vibration to the rider than the stock bars?

I think it is less, as my right hand would go numb after a few miles of high rpm twisties with the stock and riser combo, but I haven't noticed that with the LSL bars

I'm definately on the fence. I want these or the Heli Horizon ST's but I can't decide. The Heli's are way more expensive but may be worth it with all the extra adjustability. The stockers must go. I can't go 15 miles before hand numbness sets in and the only relief is to move way up on the tank to get pressure off my arms and shoulders. Then the gas tank heats up and then I'm numb and crotch scorched :(
