Givi Windshield
« on: August 24, 2015, 12:04:57 PM »
I bought a Givi windshield for my C14. I tried finding info on here before I got it but I couldn't find anything. This screen is awesome, I had the Cal Sci on there before but it caused tons of buffeting. This one seems a lot quieter with a lot less buffeting. I bought it used on ebay and it was a real shot in the dark as I had no idea what it would be like, but for the price, I pulled the trigger. I am very pleased with how it looks and works.
I am 5-10 by the way.

What year bike do you have and what size CalSci did you have? I bought the CalSci Medium back in 2010 for my 2009 C14 and I don't really notice any buffeting. I'm also 5'10".

How tall is the Givi and do you notice back pressure from it? That was my biggest problem with the stock shield and it is absent with the medium CalSci.

I have an 09 and I have no idea what size CalSci I had. It came with the bike when I bought it from the previous owner. It took me some time to figure out what brand it was, he didn't know either, even though he bought it. I will measure the Givi when I get home but this screen is a few inches than the CalSci. I don't have any back pressure and there is way less buffeting than with the CalSci. I don't know if it is the curved tip at the top but I am thrilled with it.
I was looking at buying the Aeroflow but I think this one looks better plus it was a lot cheaper and I am very happy with how it performs.

Thanks. Can you look over the shield? The medium CalSci is quite small compared to a lot of the shields people here run. I like to be able to see over it. The Givi looks nice on you bike, and of course you have the fastest color. Nice looking bike. It looks a little cleaner than mine.  ;D

I can see very clearly over the shield even when it is all the way up. I was concerned about that too, I live in SoCal so the weather is always warm and I didn't want to be too hot while riding.

Thanks, the guy I bought it from had it in absolutely perfect condition with very low miles. He had every possible farkle added to it as well. Cruise control, Givi tail bag, Corbin seat with smuggler, plastic coating everywhere to protect the paint, radar detector power port, GPS mount w/ power port, PC5 with a custom map, new tires & battery, and AGV levers, All I have done is change the windshield, had the Corbin seat modified with more padding & gel insert, installed 2 inch risers, and saddlebag retaining brackets.
I am very happy with the bike

Too bad they don't have a "tinted" version :(

I didn't know they don't make them tinted.
My CalSci was tinted and it looked really good.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't CalSci only offer one size that's tinted?

I have no idea, I got the bike with the CalSci and it took me a while to figure out what brand it was because the previous owner didn't know what he had even though he is the one that bought it. He was a nice guy but he seemed clueless about the bike, not stupid but like he didn't care for it much, which is why I think he sold it.

He had 4 other really expensive sport bikes, including an Aprilia RSV-4 and they were all in mint condition.
He told me that he didn't use it much and I believe him. The C14 didn't have a scratch or mark on it. When he described it as showroom condition, he was dead on, accurate.
I had no problem buying used from him, I am very happy with my purchase.

How many miles did he have on it when you took it off his hands and, if you don't mind my asking, how much did he let it go for?

I bought mine a year ago this last May...it's a 2012, had 5325 miles on it and I paid 10k. Best 10k I've ever spent!

It had 8500 miles on it and I got for $8000 with everything included. He didn't have the stock exhaust and he only had 1 FOB.
He mistakenly told me that it was the passive FOB which is how I used it for the first 2 months. I did tons of reading about the FOB on this forum which is how I found out that is was the active FOB he gave, and he had simply put the battery in backwards. Now that I don't have to hold the FOB up to the ignition switch, I love the FOB!

I think the FOB thing had something to do with why he sold the bike. He never mentioned it but now that I know about the FOB, it makes sense.

LOL...that's funny about the FOB. That's a good buy and you'll love the Concours! I've had mine for 15 months now and have put 30,000 miles on it. I just added a Baldwin GT seat and it has made all the difference in the world...made my bike so comfortable! I love my bike!!

WOW! You ride the hell out of your bike.
Sadly I have only put about 2000 miles on mine but I am planning on some long trips late September thru October.
I really do love the bike. I have always had sport bikes and I still have my B-King but I am really enjoying the comfort of cruising along with all my stuff.
The backpack thing was getting old!

I know exactly where you're coming from because I was a "sport bike" rider too before this bike. I ride mine pretty much every day. I commute, ride on weekends and road trip when I can. I just did a 5,000 mile road trip back in June...greatest trip EVER!

I need to ride more but I hate riding to work because when I do the bike sits outside baking in the sun which strokes me out, LOL!
One time I walked out to the parking lot at work to check on the B-king, only to find to clueless, morons smoking on either side of my bike dropping ashes all over it, I almost died! That was the last time I rode to work and that was about 3 years ago!
I would love to do a ride to Utah, I think that would be awesome. I have never done a ride like that but I will before I die.

Where do you live? I ride mine to work and cover it with a $20 bike cover I bought from Amazon!

Huntington Beach but I work in Santa Ana.
It is a locked parking lot but there are tons of looky loos that can't seem to leave my stuff alone. I put my helmet on top of a file cabinet in my little office but someone still came in when I wasn't there and touched my helmet for some reason.
I only know because there were fingerprints all over my shield!
Yep, massive, cranial collapse ensued!

That's weak...no one should be touching your gear!

I'm not far from you...Ojai (Ventura County). I figured you lived somewhere out here when you said you wanted to ride to Utah. Once you take off and ride somewhere like that you won't want to stop...it's the best! I'm in the process of trying to convince my wife to let me purchase a tinted CeeBailey's windscreen. I currently have the MRA X-creen (tinted) and love it but need something for cold weather...just-in-case, and it HAS to be tinted! Clear doesn't look good now that I've had the MRA on the bike.
