New 2013 C14 Blue
« on: July 09, 2015, 08:06:59 PM »
Been thinking of replacing my 08, last night I told my wife I decided to wait until the 2016 are out and then go trade it in.
This morning, checking on Ebay, I see this 2013 in WV with 132 miles on it going for $7200 with the reserve not met message. 40 seconds before the end of the auction, I decide to bid $9000.
Someone walks in my office asking a couple of questions, I saw the popup about the bit and said... "yeah... too good to be true" and I closed the browser. The guy that came to my office said to me "are you crazy... you could get that bit for that kind of money"
A few minutes later I get an email letting me know I won the bid for $8950... I was in shock...
Looks like I'll be going to WV to pickup my new bike with a Vstream windshield, heated corbin seat, and canyon cages already on it.

Now I'll have an 08 for sale :)

My story for today
Tony

That is incredible!  A 2013 with 132 miles for only $8950??!!!  And it has upgraded stuff too!  If you could sell your 2008 for a few thousand, that is even better.  Congratulations!

Makes you wonder what is going on.... 132 miles?  Who would put a thousand dollars of upgrades on a bike they have never even ridden?  Makes you think some guy bought it and then dropped dead a few weeks later :(  I hope everything turns out to be OK with the deal.

I got a 2013 with 10,500 miles on it, V-Stream windshield, tank bag, tail bag, and Garmin Zumo 350LM for $8999 earlier this year near San Francisco.  You can get good deals if you are patient.

Rode it home yesterday... 485 Mile trip.
One thing I don't like so far if the linked brakes... Any way to unlink them? I think I like to have control of my own brakes.

Also, I think the bike is lower? Where do I look to see if he installed the lowering links?
And id they are installed, and problems I can expect? Handling , etc? I also ride mostly 2 up.

You probably have it in the default high linked mode.  You can change it to the low (lesser linked) mode which is much better.  No, they can't be turned off.  Lots and lots of threads about it.

Also, I think the bike is lower? Where do I look to see if he installed the lowering links?

It is more likely a seat and/or handlebar riser you are not used to.  But if it is lowered, then it has a lowering link or they messed with the suspension.  If the front is lowered, the tubes would obviously be protruding from the triple tree- and that is not possible without risers.  If the rear is lowered, there would be a lowering link right smack in the middle of the bike on the very bottom, around the center stand.  With adjustable links, the center stand has to be removed completely.  With fixed links, the center stand will remain.  And if it was properly lowered, then the stock side stand will not work, the bike will not lean enough to stay on the stand, so look for a replacement side stand, too.

If they lowered the rear and did not lower the front by the same amount, or vice versa, yeah, it is going to suck (because that is the wrong way to do it).  Otherwise, I don't think it will affect handling all THAT much if it is done right... but there are some differences.  And, of course, there is less clearance.

Max is correct in that you can't turn it off.  However, it can be disabled as a few of our members have done that.

If I recall correctly that bike is lowered and the EBAY ad said they had the stock link.I remember looking at that bike. The distance from me is the only thing that kept me from throwing out a bid. I may not recollect corectly though :o

Which is it?  You can't easily "lower" the bike rear without a replacement/aftermarket/modified/non-stock link.  I suppose one might be able to install a different/modded spring??  (I have not heard of anyone doing that, nor if that is even feasible in the C14... that is, however, how I lowered my ZRX... by cutting a coil out of both rear springs.)

Congratulations.  He probably traded in on a fat wide soft heritage king deluxe Harley Davidson.  His buddies must have made him feel guilty that he wasn't parking a Harley instead of parking a Kawasaki at his house.

He obviously wasn't riding.

It tells us the seller (supposedly a Kawasaki dealer) doesn't know it is not a "Ninja", it is not spelled "Concourse" (and it is not pronounced that way either), and that he skipped the VIN number for some reason.  :)

What it tells us is that whoever posted the ad doesn't know squat, and the management is not inspecting their workers. ;)
