dash mount volt meter
« on: June 22, 2011, 06:02:30 AM »
My 5 in 1 dash meter bit the dust. Wana replace it with one of those small rectangular volt meters that people have put on ( the old forum) their bikes near the fairing pockets. Search didn’t reveal anything, nor did Google. I know someone out there knows what kind I’m talking about. Memory serves; they are about 1” X ¾” with red LED’s.

Lil help please.

For under $25.00 I did this install..................(This idea was thought of by another member here)

Lower right in the pic.

Works great and it looks very close to factory.

turnkey, you might be thinking of the Datel brand digital meter. It reads to the tenth and shows instant fluctuations in voltage !

That's the link I posted.

Totally waterproof, easy 2-wire hook-up.

I got the .01 resolution option. It's more symmetrical looking, as the numbers aren't all crammed over to the right.

Anyhow I found them at "Summit Racing" in Ohio.

Might be a tad over $25.00 with shipping.  My Dad lives about three miles from there so I got a break ;D.

I got whats called a "Battery Bug". Simple, easy, plug-n-play, show digital readouts of how much energy use on last start and how much is left in battery. It never worked right, showed I only had 10% power left in battery, last year at the national, it started to alarm on the road, bought a new battery, old battety tested fully charged. I'm getting the unit from Summit, I'll be in that area a few times over the next few weeks so I'll check it out.

Google marine volt gauges, there are a ton of them out there.  And there reasonably priced.

Are they waterproof?

Last summer we got 7" of rain in 5 hours.  I rode through that.  Total of 8 hours?  No problems so far.
