Bob -- Wear ventilated gear with cool vest and drink water not alcohol -- no probs even in Texas heat. Man up already......
You whiners need to STHU about the heat. Obviously from all the posts, you should realize there is not a viable heat issue--you were just dropped on your head too many times as a baby. These here forums are designed so that others can enlighten you about the fact that heat is not the issue-you are just a whiner and always need an excuse to post about something. No one ever died from heat while riding a connie. Case closed.
Does anybody have any recommendations for the reflective insulation for under the tank? I was looking at the thermo tec stuff that auto zone sells. Any opinions on that. I was also thinking about wrapping the header as well or maybe just the cat. I ride in alot of stop and go traffic and I can definately feel the heat coming off the cat when its hot outside.

I can honestly say I have not felt the heat others are talking about, but i DID buy Zsteves foam inserts just in case . I rode from Alexandria Virginia to Chicago and back last August and I kept "feeling" for excessive heat but found none. There must be some quirk in some bikes that causes this. I haven't (luckily) been caught in hot traffic on this bike yet - maybe that is where I'll feel it. Please don't thinl I'm being a smartass but... You are sitting on top of a 1400CC motor that can nearly lift you into space - it may get warm.
Lots and lots of good suggestions. It makes a world of difference on what kind of pants you normally ride in. Yesterday I rode with Olympia mesh pants with only boxer briefs under em and the temps ranged from 82 to 90. Felt a ton of warmth on the inner knees. Today with temps ranging from 92 to 96 I wore the same Olympia mesh pants with the LD Comfort full length tights AND rode the exact same loop. Guess what - I was much cooler!! It's weird that putting on something that you just KNOW is going to make you hotter than hell actually does work as advertised. These leggings tend to draw heat away from your skin and insulate you from the heat around you. Under Armor makes a similar product but they don't work as well as the LD Comfort product. For the record my 09 has an extra layer of insulation under the fairing panels and the Zteve heat shields. When I have a spare Saturday or Sunday, I'll pull whatever plastic I have to and put a blanket under the tank. It's worth a try to spend the $60 or so for the LD tights before you trade the bike!!

What if you wear a thong under your gear??
