I think that I got a good deal [on a used C14]!
« on: February 23, 2015, 08:08:45 PM »
I previously participated in this board when I had a 2010 C-14 ABS.  I made a mistake and sold that bike and used the money toward another motorcycle.  On Sunday I was able to rectify my mistake.  I bought a 2013 C-14 ABS with about 10,500 miles on it with the warranty good until August of 2016 for $8999.  The previous owner suffered a medical problem that prevented him from comfortably riding the bike.  He looked into consigning the bike, but did not like the 15% commission that he would have to pay, so he put a reasonable price on the bike and sold it.  It has a V-Stream windshield and includes a Garmin GPS, a factory service manual and a few other small items.

I am glad to be back among the C-14 owners.

You done good. Average retail is $11K, used.  The V Stream isn't cheap, I know, as I bought one for my C14.  I Agree, welcome back and enjoy the new scoot.... tomp

From his handle, it could have been a silver Valkyrie, that he bought.  Maybe not, but possible. He's looks to be standing in front of a Street Glide, in his avatar.  Looks like what I rode a few years back.    ;D

Welcome back Slvrvalk1. If indeed you did have a Valkyrie I too went from a Valkyrie to a C14. I loved the Valk for its comfort and attention it gets. My son has my old Valk and when we ride together, everywhere we stop people come up to look at the Valk. But it cannot compare in power and handling.

I had three bikes, a C-14, a Ninja 1000, and a Valkyrie and sold them all to buy a Gold Wing which I intend to keep for long distance rides.  I should have kept the C-14 for shorter rides around the area, so I decided to replace it.  I live on the Central Coast of California, so I can ride a lot of different great rides (PCH, Highway 166, 58, and others) that in some cases are more fun with a C-14 than a Gold Wing.

Rhino -

Over the years I have owned four different Valkyries and put about 130,000 miles on them with trips across the country and to Alaska.  My first one was silver hence the name for my handle.  The last one that I sold earlier this year is pictured below.  You are right about the interest that a Valkyrie generates from people walking by and seeing all of the chrome.  I test rode an F6B and when I got back on the Valkyrie, it felt "old".  I decided to get a Gold Wing because I use the trunk too much to give it up.

Beautiful! 2 of my brothers and my son ride Valkyries and as I stated I used to. We get together every summer and do a week long ride. We were all nicknamed "Rhino" in school at one time or another. So we came up with a T-shirt logo for our rides.

That is cool!  I am going to go to InZane XV held by the VRCC  (www.vallkyrieriders.com) in South Dakota in June.  I will be on a  Gold Wing, but the group is really laid back and no one will care.

Much better than this t shirt, for sure.

Do as he says.  I lost my job right before I needed to renew, and couldn't afford to to take advantage of another three years, and really regret it. Hope my bike has no problems anytime soon.... tp

I had an 09 Concours 1400 but could never get comfortable on it after being on Gold Wings for about 25 years. My last wing was an 08 1800. I tried everything to get my concours to fit me but it never was real comfortable. 5 seats and different handle bar positions but after about 200 miles I was done for the day.
After selling my Concours I  tried a Honda  Shadown1100, Honda VTX 1300 and a Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 Nomad, and  the Nomad was the best  but still not a wing. So now I'm back on a wing.
So many different bikes because there so many different riders,  I'm sure  you will have many happy miles on your new bike.  I wish I could have found a comfortable position on mine because it is a  great bike.
