What would the ultimate BRAKE UP be??
« on: August 10, 2014, 04:32:08 PM »

If cost was no object what would the ultimate brake set-up be for the Connie?  ???

I'd like to hear your guys opinions and suggestions to make sure I'm not missing anything in my searches so far...

I'm thinking of upgrading my brake set-up next, so far this is what I've found that I think would be a decent setup, but still undecided...  :-\

And then run Brembo pads all around, which one still TBD...

What do you folks think? Any thoughts good or bad or any suggestions on another/better path?  ??? :-\

The brakes on the C14 are the best (when they aren't warping) I've ever experienced on a motorcycle.  I don't think I would do anything to them except redesign them so that they didn't warp.  The Brembos are bling.  Granted they are very good, but still bling never the less..especially nickel coated.  Of course, nickel is my favorite finish these days but typically I buy faucets, fixtures, locks, and ceiling fans with that finish....not so much bike stuff.  You know, why not nickel instead of chrome?  Chrome is so old fashioned.

Jay, may I suggest  getting the 330mm rotors. I think these even look better than those T-drives. I think you can get them in black or gold.

Thanks for the help Mike.  :chugbeer:

I think the Brembo's only come in a 310 or 320, are you saying that those rotors you posted the link too are a better way to go vs the Brembo's? Are there any other brands that you know of that make a 330?  :-\

Yes Jay, BrakeTech makes a 330mm which I already thought you knew about. I am running the Chinese 320mm from ebay on my C10 and they seem just as good as the EBC's I had on before. The Doc is running them on his ZX14 and same thing- they seem to work well unless they start glowing red again.

ZG,

I have no experience with Brembo on a C-14, but have ridden bikes and owned a bike with Brembo's they are top shelf..

Other than price I can't see you getting hurt with them..  :)

Thanks Mike, yes one of the local shops I use also recommended the BrakeTech rotors. I've never used their rotors before though, thanks for the help.  :chugbeer:

Amen to that I'm not sure I would want any more responsive brakes. But then again we all have different riding styles.

You might as well price out the master cylinders while you're at it.

Nickel? Isn't all-black the (current) goal?

I am in the "this bike has the best brakes ever" club. I am curious to see if there is a big improvement with after market brakes. I am subscribed and waiting to see.
