If you could get a new one (or more) for $150+shipping would you?  For you MSF folks this is the current deal, they are also offering range lids for $80 a pop-yep, X12s for the range.
So, would you get one even if you didnt need a new helmet?  I'm seriously considering getting 2, one for now, one for later.  I just checked the RETSORG Site and they aren't listed yet so I have a little time before I decide, so i am enlisting COGDOM to help me make my decision

Let me first apologize-I should have been a little clearer, this deal is for MSF Rider Coaches only.  The deal even gets sweater if you run a school-only $80, can you see a bunch of students in the X12?  What a great message that would be.  The only bummer I see is they were out of XL in white, so I settled ( ) on the dark grey one.  If anyone knows a Rider Coach, let em know, if they have any issues ordering them, drop me a PM, seems there is a glitch in the system, MSF sent out instructions, but things can get lost in the traffic as they say.  Guess I'll be using my Icon Variant for DS use, it was starting to leak a little hear and there.

If it's anything like the x11, expect it to be loud.  The more holes a helmet has, the louder it is.  However, if you ride with ear plugs, all is well.

Intent Steve, intent.  I'd be all over him if he was buying to resell, but even a $50 dollar helmet that doesnt fit aint worth keeping in the closet.  I'd rather see someone use it then gather dust, I'd bet you feel the same.

I don't feel the same way. Intent removed, it's the perception and the reality that there are some out there that might do are doing things that may be jeopardizing what was supposed to be a closed offer to the RC community.  Just my $0.02

"It has come to our attention that some RiderCoaches have already approached retailers in an attempt to exchange Shoei X12 helmets for other sizes and/or colors. This activity must stop. If the size or color you desire is not available through the special offer do not place an order. Do not ask retailers to exchange helmets. Such a request is an affront to their business and can have a negative impact on their willingness to support rider education with loan machines, safety gear and other precious resources in the future. Shoei retailers have very specific guidelines on advertising and retail pricing; any discounting beyond Shoei's policy can cost a retailer their authorization to sell Shoei helmets.

Additionally it has come to our attention that at least one RiderCoach or Site Sponsor has offered these helmets for sale on eBay.

Unfortunately we will now have to monitor eBay and other sales channels.

This special purchasing program was intended to provide RiderCoaches a rare opportunity to get a great deal on a high quality helmet as a thank you from Shoei and the MSF. Reselling the helmets is not just a shameful action that violates the terms and conditions of the offer, but puts the offer in jeopardy for all. This offer is a protected sale. Any activity that violates the terms and conditions of this special offer and imperils the long term support of rider education will result in this offer being withdrawn.

These helmets shall not be sold, bartered, or exchanged. They are intended for personal use by MSF Certified RiderCoaches, or to be made available to students at MSF Recognized training sites. Any abuse of this offer is a violation of the MSF RiderCoach Rules of Professional Conduct and/or the MSF RERP Agreement. Violations of the Rules of Professional Conduct and/or the RERP Agreement will place them in serious jeopardy. "

So, that clears everything up.  No questions there.  So, cablebandit, I sure hope fraud wasnt your intent, IF it was shame on you, if it wasnt, I'd follow Steves advice, perception carries alot of weight.  Maybe I've been a little sheltered, I never expected to see this kinda response from the MSF community.  Shamefull to say the least.  (Not meaning Cablebandit, those who have been proven to violate the trust)

Yeah I've seen this email as well.  I can't believe people would actually go to a dealership to exchange the sizes. 

I spent most of Saturday going to every dealership within 2 hours of here to try and even find an X12 to try on for size.  Nobody has them.  The few dealers that even carry Shoei anymore only stock the Multitec and Quest.  I've worn size Medium Shoei's for 20 years, however the new Quest in size medium barely fits on my melon.  The large fits like a glove and my wifes large RF1100 fits well also.  So I guess I should just take a gamble and get the large X12 and hope it fits. 

Oh, to all you that have taken shots at me, do you really think I'm dumb enough to come on the internet and tell you how I plan to get over on MSF for personal gain?  At no point did I say I was going to sell anything.  Sheesh!

So, I got my new X12s in 2 days ago, nice lids, headset fit in really nicely, and fits great.  All I need to do is install a fog city insert and I'm golden.

So if you have Cycle Gear nearby, give them a call.

Personally, I'd pay a little extra and buy the RF-1100 anyways. It's the same basic fit but includes a removable headliner. The Qwest doesn't have a removable headliner.

I've never taken the liner out of any helmet I've ever worn. And every review I've read has just raved about the Qwest. Webbikeworld rates the Qwest both lighter and quieter than the RF-1100. Add in cheaper and I'm in--if I could try one on that is.
