Not only did many of the British groups listen to black music which was widely played over there at the time, quite a few of their songs were covers of the songs originally done by black artists.
Without recognition or royalties.

Sadly correct two wheel. Wheel Pat Boone and others covered a black artists song and made millions for himself and the record companies, many times the same companies that released the original artists songs, the original artists got nothing.

These guys were all on the 2nd or 3rd wave, all worth mentioning along with David Bowie and Marc Bolan.

Actually, I have. I don't see anywhere in this thread where someone said that the Beatles are new. I did see where Boss said that back in the day they were new.I think what they meant was that this was something entirely new and that bands like the Beach Boys and The Everly Brothers were marginalized that night when the rest of America was introduced to something they've never seen before. This was the face of music to come.
