Pap, I've got the Corbin rear box on my bike. It's absolutely beautiful and the lines match perfectly. I think there's no other trunk that comes close to how smooth and sexy the lines remain with the Corbin trunk installed. Other trunks all take away from the bike IMO but the Corbin makes it look better....again one man's opinion.
As far as the install, Corbin supplies a well written set of directions with quality parts and photos of all the important steps ! Something I wish M/C would consider....
Now the down side. It's very heavy and the shape inside is just...weird I get that the volume is ginormous but the shape inside might take away from ones ability to use all of that space unless you jam little things back into the little nooks and crannies Because of the weight I'm considering taking the trunk off except for actual trips. The side cases are plenty big for my daily commute. Now, having said "because of the weight", I don't mean to suggest that I can really feel the difference in weight or distribution. I'm worried about the weight of the trunk on the rear frame as well as the build structure of the trunk itself. It's made out of fibre glass and my worry is stress fractures developing because of the trunk bouncing around on its own weight when the installation location of the attachment bolts is fairly far forward
That's my only concern. Fit and finish are superb as is the hardware used for the latches and the lock. 6 or 7 coats of Liquid Glass polish later and that finish looks so smooth and wet you'd think it was about to drip right off !
Thanks Pap, It does hang out quite far but somehow it still looks great. I'm totally and completely happy with it. If I wasn't so homely I'd volunteer as a spokesman for Corbin
Yes, good trunk. I had it for a few months but then decided to sell it. It is very spacious 70l, 2 full size helmets side by side. But it is heavy, fuel consumption went up, although quite stable at high speed, my wife did not like it, as it was difficult to reach for the side bars and she did not want to use the arm rests. I bought the smuggler and I am very happy with it, yes these products are not cheap but they are made with good craftmanship.
I can understand the loss in MPGs. Just putting on my Bag in the back of my bike creates more drag and consumes more gas. I probably would only have this on for trips. I really like the looks of the corbin seats with the top box on Dan's bike.
