Confused
« on: June 10, 2011, 10:52:05 AM »
Anyone ever seen or happen to own a Neutron Silver 2009 model?  Everywhere I've looked indicates that Neutron Silver was only offered in 2008, but my local dealer has a leftover `09 in this color.  And yes, the VIN indicates it's a 2009 model. (JKBZGNB1199A010XXX)

Character #10, the one you highlighted, is the model year designator, with "9" = MY2009. So, I would assume it is an anomoly, or a wrecked bike with all body panels painted or replaced with Neutron Silver. Could it be a Canada or European bike? Not sure if Neutron Silver was offered there in '09? One last thing, and I am sure its just a typo, but your VIN has 18 digits in it. The C-14 VIN has only 17 digits. My guess is that you double-typed the "9" in question before the "A". Does it actually read, "JKBZGNB119A010XXX"?

It must have been one of the first 09's ever built. They probably had an extra set of body work laying around.

We get the same colors as US. Interesting..... I would investigate history of that bike further. Perhaps a phone call to Kawa Mama is all you need to do to verify its status.

I'm not sure what all the fuss is about.  But finding an 09 in the fastest color available is PURE awesomeness!

Black and Red were the only colors offered in 2009.

You might have found an anomaly.

It's NOT an anomaly,   ALL the Neutron Silvers are faster than the rest!

Actually, I mistakenly put an extra 1 in the Vin as it should read JKBZGNB199A010691.

Considering it's a brand new bike (not a demo) I highly doubt it's been wrecked, but I guess there is the possibility that the paint/plastic was damaged in shipment.  Even then though, they'd have to replace all the panels and the tank to do a color change and I can't see a dealer or Kawasaki going to that expense, and why would they go to a previous years color?

Did you get the VIN directly from the bike, or from the dealer's paperwork? I wonder if they had some kind of inventory mix-up and there's someone else out there riding around on a "red '08."

Stay away from it! You will instantly be seen as an owner of "one of them old '08's". You will be neglected, outcast, downtrodden, and ostracised by your freinds. Besides, everyone knows that the black ones are faster and are chick magnets! ::)

But do keep us posted on the outcome.

Either that, or you will be the envy of all of your friends and neighbors because you will be driving an ANOMOLY

If it is an 09 then maybe it was wrecked and the plastic was replaced with 08 plastic.

Where are you located?

I'm in west-central Ohio.

Did you get the VIN directly from the bike, or from the dealer's paperwork? I wonder if they had some kind of inventory mix-up and there's someone else out there riding around on a "red '08."

This is a good possibility as the salesman just pulled the VIN up on the computer.  Will find out if this is the case Monday when I stop back in to do some haggling.  If I can't get it for less than $10k OTD (non ABS model) I'll likely just run up to Toledo and get a new 2011 ABS model for $13k OTD.
