Rear brake dragging?
« on: September 06, 2013, 11:26:50 AM »
My buddy just bought a 2008 C-14 and when compared to mine the rear wheel is much harder to spin and seems to drag. Mine has had the brake recall and we're not sure if his has or not. What are the symptoms of a non-recalled rear brake problem?

if there is a pebble stuck in the link, it will burn the disc in less than 5 miles.... mine did... prior to the first recall. Kaw replaced the disk, the rear caliper, and the pads...
Take a look up behind the end of the lever/rod junction, and see if the plate is there to prevent stone trappage. i also had the second recall done last year to replace the linkage with the newest version.
You should have no drag on that disc... if someone changed pads, they may not have sprayed the pistons and revoved the crud ring before pushing the pistons in, this causes them to stick at times, and often drag... easy job though, about a half hour.

Grab hold of the rear brake peddle with your hand and operate it up and down, pulling up hard on it. If there's something stuck in there you should be able to tell.
